7 Blingy Sashes to Make a Simple Wedding Dress Feel Extra Special

If your everyday wardrobe is unfussy, there's nothing wrong with opting for a simple wedding dress, too. {Not, every bride wants to look like a cupcake! } Plus, you'll probably save a bundle if you're not paying for two miles of lace and tulle. And if you want to take a simple wedding dress's "fancy" factor up a notch or two (or change your look between your ceremony and reception) a sparkly sash offers an easy way to make your dress more fun—without making it flashy. Here are seven I like:

The Dainty Wedding Flowers I'm Obsessed With Right Now

You don't need a massive bouquet to make a big impact. To ensure all eyes are on you, why not keep things simple with a cluster of dainty lilies of the valley, like this:

best-wedding-flowers-0709

Despite their diminutive size, these suckers are expensive, but they look pretty mixed with inexpensive greenery, and you don't need a ton of them to make an eye-catching bouquet. (I'd arrange the stems at different heights, so the overall effect would be more organic than the kind of uptight-looking one above.)

Would you carry lilies of the valley on your wedding day? Or do you want a your wedding flowers to make a bigger statement?

Like most brides, Whitney Port has a lot of wedding-planning questions. Her first concern after Tim Rosenman proposed? "The budget. You don't really know what goes into planning a wedding and you don't know how much things are supposed to cost, so that was a big question," she told Brides after our #BRIDESxGLAMOUR Twitter chat yesterday. Whit also had questions about save-the-dates, who should officiate the ceremony, and wrangling all that wedding inspiration.

"I feel like we have so many ideas and different directions to go in: Do I want a colorful wedding or neutral? Do I want classic invites or something less traditional? I think that's the biggest issue—is knowing how many options I have," she said. "My mom keeps telling me to pick a theme!"

We teamed up with Brides to answer Whitney's questions—and yours! (Whether you're the one walking down the aisle, or not sure what to buy your best friend for a wedding gift.) Here are the highlights:

In honor of our wedding chat, Whitney is giving Glamour readers an exclusive 20 percent off discount code to shop her clothing line Whitney Eve! Go to whitneyeve.com and use "TweetingBrides" at checkout by July 10!

If you're attending a wedding every weekend for the foreseeable future—welcome to your mid-twenties—Rent the Runway is basically your savior. I mean, who has the money (or the closet space) to buy a dress for every wedding? Yes, you can re-wear a dress, but once you've worn it a couple times, I'm guessing you'll feel totally "meh" about wearing it again. Especially if there are pics of the dress all over social media.

Here are six rentable options that I love for wedding guests. And if you place an order of $75 or more today, you can save $25 with code RTRGLAMOUR25. (The code is only good for today!) Since rentals start at just $30, you could be outfitted for your next three weddings for under $100. Not bad.

Dress 3

Dress 4This dress looks bananas in their picture, but it's totally matte in real life. I wore it here!

Lela Rose Phython Matelasse Dress, $30 rental.

Dress 5
5-what-to-wear-to-a-wedding-0710

ML Monique Lhuillier Give Me a Smooch Gown, $125 rental.

Obviously not all of these dresses would work for every occasion, but I think there's a good option up there for most weddings. And I know the short dresses look super short on the models. You can get a better idea of what the dress will look like on you by clicking "Customer Photos," where you can often find a girl who's your size and height. Reading the reviews is also helpful if you're not sure about size.

Would you rent a dress to wear to your wedding? Which of these dresses is your favorite?

One of Rory's dear friends just got engaged last night, and I'm already eyeing No. 5! (Not that I have any idea when or where the wedding is happening. But I like to plan ahead.) Congrats, Dan and Cait!

Exactly How to Copy Jessica Simpson's Gorgeous Wedding Hairstyle

$

When People ran this wedding portrait of Jessica Simpson, you could just feel brides-to-be everywhere swooning over her hair. It's romantic, glamorous, modern, and unique—pretty much everything that lots of brides look for in a wedding hairstyle.

So what are the secrets of this hair look? We got a how-to from Graziella Lembo, senior stylist at the very chic SalonCapri in Boston, who created this copycat version of Jessica's hairstyle (which she's calling "the princess pull-back").

jessica-simpson-wedding-hairstyle-how-to

jessica-simpson-wedding-hairstyle-how-to-side

jessica-simpson-wedding-hairstyle-how-to-back

Here's exactly how this Jessica Simpson-inspired hairstyle was created:

1. Grab 1-inch sections of hair and curl with a 1.5-inch curling iron. Mist with Kerastase Laque Noire hairspray for strong hold.

2. Gather two 2-inch sections of hair at the crown, one in the front and one in the very center of the head.

3. Tease the center section lightly with a comb until you achieve your desired fullness. Smooth the front section gently over the teased area.

3. Twist the ends of the two sections together and secure with bobby pins at the back of your head.

4. Gently brush through your curls to loosen them up. Finish the look by lightly misting on L’Oreal Professional Perfect Shimmer Shine Illuminating Mist for shine and non-sticky hold.

How do you like Jessica Simpson's wedding hairstyle and this version created by SalonCapri? Would you like to copy it on yourself?

4 Guests Who Will Disrupt Your Wedding—And How to Deal With Them

Elegant Maryland Wedding Captured by Scrole Vision Photography

Badly behaved guests can cause major headaches on your wedding day. Here are four trouble-makers to be on the lookout for—and tips for shutting them down from Sojourner Auguste of Erganic Design, the event planner behind this gorgeous real wedding—which reportedly had no disruptive guests ;) —and hundreds more.

1. THE 20-QUESTIONS GUEST
How to identify her: Her name keeps popping up in your caller ID. "Is the rehearsal dinner venue chilly? Should I bring a wrap?" "Where should I get breakfast the morning of the wedding?" "We forgot the GPS! Can you tell me how to get to the ceremony?"
How to deal with her: "Don't let yourself be sidetracked," says Sojourner. Hand over your phone 24 hours before your wedding. Either your mom and MOH can screen calls and let you know if anyone really needs your attention.

2. THE WANNABE WEDDING VENDOR
How to identify her: She's in the middle of the action, offering up "helpful" suggestions based on, "Well, in my experience." She's asked your photographer to get some shots outdoors, told your caterer table six should really have a bigger centerpiece, and asked your wedding planner for "a quick look" at the processional order.
How to deal with her: If you know someone's going to try to run the show, give your vendors a heads up and let them deal with her. "Your vendors are there to carry out services you've hired them for, "says Sojourner, "not to encourage your guests' career dreams." Make sure your vendors know to run any changes by you, no matter how much your mother-in-law insists, "Oh, it's FINE."

3. THE OPEN-MIC MAGNET
How to identify him: His natural habitat is within five feet of a microphone. You may have seen him wrestle a mic from an unsuspecting maid of honor at previous weddings. He's incapable of having a conversation without mentioning, "That time we were on spring break in Cancun."
How to deal with him: "Make sure to tell your band leader or DJ ahead of time if you don't want any impromptu speeches," says Sojourner. Ask the people who are speaking (usually the maid of honor and best man, sometimes a parent) not to hand over the mic to any other guests.

4. THE DRUNK UNCLE
How to identify him: It's always an uncle, right? Or the random plus-one. In any event, she's the one pole dancing on your tent supports. And he's loudly telling strangers, "I can't believe she's marrying a boy! I thought she was a boy until she was 22!" (Not mentioning any names, but true story.)
How to deal with him: "Give a heads up to the bartenders," suggests Sojourner. They can water down drinks or hand the offending guest a bottle of water while the next round is being poured. If you're not providing transportation, display a list of taxi numbers on your favor table—and let your bartenders know they're free to claim keys from any intoxicated guests who are talking about driving.

Have you seen any badly behaved weddings guests lately? Are you worried about anyone at your wedding?

Exactly What Jessica Simpson's 14 (Yes, 14!) Bridesmaids Wore for Her Wedding

$

Jessica Simpson didn't pick and choose when deciding on her wedding party; she just went with "my best friends on the planet—which there's 14 of." (Twelve 'maids, plus her mom and sister Ashlee as co-maids-of-honor.) You can't exactly go matchy-matchy when there are that many women—and Jessica did anything but, outfitting her bridesmaids in Marchesa, Jason Wu, Temperley, Carmen Marc Valvo, and Carolina Herrera, who also designed Jessica's wedding dress and daughter Maxwell's flower-girl dress. The look was "a little bit angelic, but of course with rhinestones!"

Thoughts on Jessica Simpson's bridesmaids' dresses?

I like how she really let every girl's personality shine through, yet it seemed like it was all cohesive. And I'm digging Ashlee's Elsa-ish braid.

5 Things You Never Knew You Needed on Your Wedding Day

Owner of Weddings in Vieques, a destination-wedding planning company off the coast of Puerto Rico, Sandy Malone has helped countless couples plan their big day since 2007. Here, the veteran planner is sharing some expert advice for free: She's telling us the five things brides need on their wedding day.

42-v-real-wedding-album-0219

There are several important details that my clients never seem to think of on their own, and that's OK because they have me as a wedding planner to remind them. But when you're planning your own big day, you should make sure that you keep the following things in mind to ensure your wedding runs smoothly.

1. Lunch for the Bridal Party
Too many brides forget to make special arrangements to feed themselves and the bridal party on the wedding day. It's important to pre-arrange more than just nibbles for your entire crew—especially if you aren't primping in your own home. I vividly remember how resentful bridesmaids became at a wedding because the bride ordered only a platter of fruit and cheese for her six bridesmaids—but she requested a sandwich for herself!

2. Beauty Appointments for Everyone
While the bride is not required to pick up the tab for hair and makeup for your girlfriends, you should give them the opportunity to have their hair and makeup done. This is especially crucial if you're hosting a destination wedding. Certainly make it "optional," but it's the bride's obligation to make sure the girls are aware of options.

3. A Break With Your New Husband
After an emotional ceremony followed by a slew of professional photos, having a short planned break with your groom before you make your grand entrance is an absolute necessity. It gives you both a chance to refresh your look and spend a minute alone together saying "OMG, did we really just get married?"

4. A Game Plan for Wedding Toasts
Have you ever sat through what seemed like an endless line of guests with well wishes for the bride and groom at a wedding, thinking it would never end? Guests often misinterpret a "toast" to be a "speech" and they talk forever. The best way to make sure you don't lose valuable dance and party time is to pre-plan the toasts with your wedding planner or MC. That will ensure the microphone is somewhat controlled and not just anybody can get up and babble. Also it's an important tool for avoiding "roasts" by certain guests who should know better.

5. Alone time
Too many brides plan to have a pack of friends with them from the moment they first open their eyes till they say "I do." While it's a great day to celebrate with the people you love the most, it can be emotionally overwhelming. Make sure you have someplace to escape—even just for a moment.

—Written by Sandy Malone for Brides

Real Wedding Album: Elshane & Taylor

When a celebrity fashion stylist throws a wedding, you can bet it's going to be visual feast. Such was the case for LA-based stylist Elshane, who worked with Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen for their world tour and has dressed A-listers like Zooey Deschanel and Rebel Wilson and styled countless music videos and commercials.

"I was not a traditional bride at all," says Elshane. "Taylor and I had a Moroccan-themed outdoor house party, with every color under the rainbow, floor pillows, hookahs, henna tattoos, an internationally known DJ, and an electric string quartet. I knew I would never find a wedding gown that suited my style, so I traveled to Hong Kong to buy all of the fabric and trim, drew a design, and had a tailor sew it for me." She also designed her second dress {Obviously there was a "costume" change! } which she wore when she popped out of their wedding cake! She wore a third dress—a hot pink Oscar de la Renta number—to the after party, which raged until 5 a.m. Even the dog got decked out, in a tiny Moroccan tuxedo hand-crafted by the bride. A Sweet, Easy Way to Do Mix-and-Match Bridesmaid Dresses

I was delighted when this pretty picture popped up in my Instagram feed over the weekend. Not only does it feature outsize baby's-breath bouquets—a personal fave—it also showcases bridesmaid dresses that match without being matchy-matchy.

I'm guessing the bride asked her girls to pick any pale-pink lace dress. So there are tons of styles and textures, but the whole thing seems cohesive. (If you're interested in borrowing this idea, ModCloth has loads of pretty options!)

Would you put your bridesmaids in mix-and-match lace? As a bridesmaid, would you be cool with a pick-your-own pink lace dress?

I'd be happy to!

Beyonce and Jay Z's "On the Run" tour kicked off last month, and it seems she added another look to her impressive tour wardrobe: a wedding jumpsuit! Looks by Versace, Alexander Wang and Nicola Formichetti for Diesel have been heavily photographed, but I hadn't seen any pics of this amazingness until last week:

beyonce-on-the-run-costumes-0714

And Bey shared shots from a few different angles on Insta yesterday:

Part of me thinks this would be totally wearable for a super-stylish bride's city hall wedding, but perhaps like camo for three, the wedding jumpsuit is a look only Beyonce can own. (Click here for another wedding jumpsuit I love.)

Would you wear a wedding jumpsuit? Even if you wouldn't, you have to agree that Beyonce's killing it, right? RIGHT?!

Your wedding registry doesn't have to be a never-ending list of household staples. Instead, opt for goods that reflect your lifestyle. Here, Target wedding expert Brit Morin shares six fun picks for the bride and groom who like to entertain.

KITCHEN
1-best-wedding-registry-gifts

"Making customized drinks for friends has never been easier. Use a Sodastream to create all sorts of bubbly beverages," suggests Brit. A gorgeous cake stand plus beautiful foods (think artichokes, ripe peaches) makes for an eye-catching countertop display. Brit says: "I love this modern, woodsy take on the classic glass cake stand. It’s masculine and feminine all at once." SodaStream Source Soda Maker, $99.99. Threshold Wood Cake Stand With Glass Dome, $34.99.

DINING ROOM
2-best-wedding-registry-gifts

Rustic-looking pieces can be dressed up or down to match the occasion—and music helps further set the mood. "I love this wireless speaker because it allows us to play the same (or different!) music in every room," says Brit, "and you can control everything via an app on your phone." Burlap Table Runner, $23.95. Sonos Play: 1 Wireless Hi-Fi System in White, $199.99

OUTDOOR ENTERTAINING

Summer parties give you even more opportunities to decorate. "This dispenser is a party staple for showcasing colorful drinks, like sangria," says Brit. "And I love the jars because they remind me of my own cowboy-themed wedding. So cute."
Anchor Hocking 2-Gallon Beverage Dispenser With Chalkboard, $27.99. Mr. & Mrs. Mason Jars, $22.

Do you and your guy like to entertain? Which of these gifts would you want?

I always smile when photographs by the mega-talented Corbin Gurkin pop up in my Instagram feed—they're almost painfully pretty. And this one, which she shared yesterday, made me smile extra big:

The caption reads: @abpmakeup's work is flawless. Truly lucky to collaborate with her on so many projects. can't wait to see this shoot in print in @pacificweddings out this week. #fashion #editorial #beachy #fishtail

The bride's hair totally has Frozen vibe, and I love it. Obviously it's not a total copycat, but it kind of looks like a hybrid of Anna's coronation hair and Elsa's Ice Queen hair, right?

10 Wet-Weather Pictures That Will Make You Wish for Rain on Your Wedding Day

Rain on your wedding day is not ironic {Sorry, Alanis! } but it is good luck. And it does make for some incredibly pretty wedding photos. Inspired by the monsoons we've been having around her lately, I searched #weddingrain on Instagram and found all of these gorgeous shots:

Would you be OK with rain on your wedding day?

I feel like I should say, "It would be fine!" but I think I would have been a little upset, since most of our wedding took place outdoors. We actually had a torrential downpour the day before our wedding and hail (in July!) the day after. But the weather was gorgeous day-of.
