The bride and groom arrived in style: Earlier today George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were ferried through Venice one of the city's water taxis—the aptly named Amore, of course—to Hotel Cipriani, where they hosted a small welcome gathering for guests ahead of their Saturday wedding. (Gardeners at the hotel planted hundreds of pink and white flowers in the days leading up to the welcome party.) Amal wore a black and white Dolce & Gabbana dress and her groom wore a grey suit.
Also spotted in water taxis: Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber and Matt Damon and wife Luciana Barroso. (And on the water taxis: A flag bearing George and Amal's wedding mongram: A script A nestled up against a blocky G. Check it out on People.) Anna Wintour arrived in Italy via private jet, and Ellen Barkin, George’s co-star in Ocean’s Thirteen, was also spotted in Venice.
Later that night, the bride was toasted by more than a dozen female friends.
