If you’re thinking about putting your bridesmaids in mix-and-match bridesmaid dresses, send them this picture from Ashley Tisdale’s wedding as a lesson in how to nail it. (High School Musical fans, please notice Vanessa Hudgens on the right in pink.)
As I’ve said in the past, to pull off mix-and-match bridesmaid dresses without your wedding party looking messy, the dresses should have at least one thing in common. Here, they’re all the same length and fabric: chiffon. (There might be some tulle in there too.) And the colors aren’t matchy-matchy, but they’re all in a “dusk-y moonlit evening” palette—which is to say there isn’t a jewel tone or a jarring tropical hue among them. And I’m 96 percent sure they’re all by Monique Lhuillier, which also makes them look cohesive. (Ashley’s wedding planner, Lisa Vorce*, tagged Monique in another snap from Ashley’s wedding. It could be because Ashley’s dress (and only Ashley’s dress) is Monique, but I’m pretty sure I recognize those bridesmaid dresses from Monique’s collections.)
Oops! Turns out the bridesmaid dresses were by Amsale. Here's a sampling:
Thoughts on Ashley Tisdale’s mix-and-match bridesmaid dresses? Would you do something similar for your wedding?
