In addition to landing a real live prince and, I assume, a bunch of tiaras, all four of these women, who are now royalty, scored a super-pretty engagement ring. Some girls get all the luck.
Engagement Ring 1: Princess Marie of DenmarkPrince Joachim of Denmark proposed to Marie Cavallier in September of 2007.
Engagement Ring 2: Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, Princess of AsturiasFelipe, Prince of Asturias, proposed in September of 2003 with a 16-baguette diamond engagement ring with a white gold trim, which she now wears on her right hand.
Engagement Ring 3: Mary, Crown Princess of DenmarkFrederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, presented Mary Donaldson with an engagement ring featuring an emerald-cut diamond and two emerald-cut ruby baguettes in October of 2003.
Engagement Ring 4: Catherine, Duchess of CambridgePrince William proposed to Kate Middleton in October of 2010 during a 10-day trip to Kenya with the engagement ring that had belonged to his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
I'm just going to point out here that all these women are princesses by marriage, not birth. (I didn't mention that in my post on princess wedding dresses, and someone wrote to inform me that I was "the laughingstock of the royal wedding blogging community." Ouch.) And also, I know "princess" isn't Kate's formal title, but I learned it's OK to call her a princess because she's married to a prince, as indicated by Prince George's birth certificate. Look at us learn! And you thought Save the Date was just a place to stare at pretty dresses. (Speaking of, you can click each princess's name for a wedding day photo.)
Which of these royal engagement rings is your favorite?
I adore Letizia's ring. (And her wardrobe!) So chic.
