1 Super-Important Thing to Consider Before Having an Itty-Bitty City Hall Wedding

If the stress of wedding planning is about to make your head explode, you might have given some serious consideration to swapping vows at city hall. When I'd had it up to HERE with people's antics, I definitely did. But here's one super-important thing to consider: Your guest list might be seriously limited.

You'll probably HAVE to bring a witness or two (in NYC, Rory and I needed one but were allowed to bring two), but beyond that, the number of people you're allowed to bring to the ceremony will most likely be restricted. Plus, getting married at city hall often involves some waiting in lines, which gets exponentially harder when you're a group of 20 instead of a group of, say, four.

If you're plotting a city hall wedding but want, say, 10 friends and/or family members to join you, check ahead of time to make sure that everyone you want there can be included. If the info's not on your local city hall website, definitely give them a call.

Would you get married at city hall? Would your family freak out?

We had to have a before-our-wedding city hall wedding. If that had been the only ceremony, my mother would have disowned me.

P.S. If you missed me yesterday, I had a killer stomach bug. Sorry to go all AWOL on you, but I'm back!
