Here are my most favorite wedding-y things from the past 12 months!
7 THESE DESIGNER COLLABORATIONS Zac Posen for David's Bridal and Claire Pettibone for Wedding Paper Divas. (The butterflies below are cut from invitations. Swoon! ) Both collections will be available in January.
6 THESE 8 COLORFUL REAL-GIRL ENGAGEMENT RINGS We saw a few colorful engagement rings in 2013—I'm looking forward to seeing more next year.
5 THIS WEDDING RING INSCRIPTION At this year's Glamour Women of the Year Awards, Hillary Clinton introduced Glamour Couple of the Year Gabrielle Giffords and Mark Kelly and shared this little tidbit: On their wedding day, Mark—who is an astronaut—gave Gabby a wedding ring inscribed with the words "The closest to heaven that I've ever been." Guys, the man is an ASTRONAUT. I'm crying again.
4 THIS UP-THEMED PROPOSAL You can relive the totally magical proposal that Joe created for Laura by reading his side of the story here.
3 THESE 6 FRESH WEDDING DRESSES Of the many, many wedding dresses we've seen this year, I'm naming these six my favorites. (Click here for all of my faves from the spring runways, and here for the dresses I loved best from the fall collections.)
2 THESE "CRAPPY" ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS We've had our fair share of laughs on Save the Date this year—but nothing made me laugh harder than this couple's movie-inspired engagement photos. Click here to see all of them.
1 MARRIAGE EQUALITY! (ALMOST. WE'RE GETTING THERE.) WOOT!The Supreme Court struck down DOMA (celebrities were PSYCHED) giving same-sex couples the same federal marriage rights as the rest of us, and same-sex marriage was legalized in 10 states in 2013—California, New Jersey, New Mexico, Utah, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Maryland, and my home state, Rhode Island—bringing the total number to 17, plus Washington, D.C.
What was your favorite wedding-y thing in 2013? What are you looking forward to on the weddings front in 2014?
Happy New Year, ladies!
