Lots of A-listers said “I do” in 2015, but there was just a handful of weddings that we were extra-especially excited about. Below, the nine celebrity weddings (including two royal weddings) that made our hearts skip a beat this year.
Almost a year after their wedding (Cameron and Benji were married January 6) we still don’t know what Cameron’s engagement ring looks like—although this might be it. We also don’t know much about the wedding, which was held in the gated community where the newlyweds still live.
Benedict Cumberbatch&Sophie Hunter
First comes love, then comes marriage: Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter—who welcomed a baby in a baby carriage in June—were married on Valentine’s Day on the Isle of Wight in England. The couple, who met on the set of Burlesque Fairytales in 2009, announced their engagement the old-fashioned way—in a newspaper announcement taken out in November of 2014.
Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalderswapped vows in April. The bride picked a one-of-a-kind Claire Pettibone wedding dress, while the groom opted for a white suit. Sofia Hellqvist& Prince Carl Philip of Sweden
When former reality-TV star Sofia Hellqvist swapped vows with Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip in June, she certainly wasn’t the first commoner to marry into royalty—she wasn’t even the first in the family. Carl Philip’s older sister, Crown Princess Victoria, married her former personal trainer, Daniel Wesling, in 2010, and his younger sister, Princess Madeleine, married U.S.-Brit businessman Christopher O'Neill in 2013.
The rarely-photographed-together former That ’70s Show co-stars said “I do” in an ultra-private ceremony over July 4th weekend. Details were so hush-hush that guests weren’t told the time and place of the wedding until 24 hours before the ceremony. One possible location for their big day: The super-private home of Guy Oseary—Ashton's and Ron Burkle’s partner in venture capital firm A-Grade Investments, and the manager of Madonna and U2.
Beatrice Borromeo &Pierre Casiraghi
An almost-royal wedding: Beatrice Borromeo wore Valentino when she married Pierre Casiraghi—Grace Kelly’s grandson—in a civil ceremony in Monaco in June. She picked Armani for a religious event and corresponding party on the luxurious Borromean Islands, owned by her aristocratic Italian family, a week later.
Nicky Hilton& James Rothschild
The socialite says “I do”: Hotel heiress Nicky Hiltonmarried banking heir James Rothschild in June. The two swapped vows at the Orangery in London’s Kensington Palace—the home of Prince William and Kate Middleton—in front of hundreds of guests, including both royalty and Real Housewives. The bride wore a custom Valentino wedding dress.
Jennifer Aniston&Justin Theroux
A wedding, at last: After getting engaged three years ago, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux night in an intimate wedding at their home in Bel Air in August. About 70 family members and friends—including Lisa Kudrow, Chelsea Handler, and Howard Stern—reportedly gathered in the sprawling backyard of the couple’s shared mansion for the nuptials.
Sofia Vergara &Joe Manganiello
Sofia Vergara said “I do” to Joe Manganiello in an intimate ceremony in front of 400 guests at the Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, in November. (Joe proposed almost exactly a year ago with this massive engagement ring.)
