We’ll go on and on about why you just CAN’T wear white to a wedding and what we think your wedding guests care about, but if you want advice from someone who’s out there planning the weddings and calling the shots every day, you should listen to celebrity event planner Mindy Weiss, who’s planned thousands of events over more than three decades—100-plus a year!—including Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s wedding, as well as Jimmy Kimmel’s.
Her best advice for brides and grooms who are knee-deep in the planning process? Have fun!
“It can be really daunting amid all of the inspirational wedding resources out there, from Pinterest to magazines, to figure out exactly how to bring your dream wedding to life,” says Mindy, who’s also a Wedding Paper Divas style partner. “But don’t let planning your wedding day overwhelm you, it should be a fun time for the both the bride and groom to-be. I love helping to create the perfect wedding day for couples and being able to provide little nuggets of advice that might make a difference. It’s the best part of my job!”
And her biggest wedding DON’T:
“Not providing any kind of seating during cocktail hour. Cocktail ‘hour’ can sometimes turn into 2 to 2.5 hours. You need some seating for your guests and their tired feet!”
Need some specific-to-you wedding-planning advice? You’re in luck! You have from now through next Monday to post an Instagram a pic with the hashtag #HelpMeWeddingPaperDivas. That’s Mindy with Wedding Paper Divas style and trend expert Amber Harrison, host of Small Talk. Big Day.“Mindy has seen it all (and I mean everything-from being asked to break-in a bride’s wedding shoes to handling hurricanes) and is an incredible, and sometimes unattainable, resource for any couple in the throes of wedding planning,” says Amber. “Don’t miss the chance to pick her brain!”
