Why This High-End Jeweler Wears a Hexagon-Shaped Engagement Ring—and Why You’re Going to Want One, Too

London-based jewelry designer Noor Fares has always been attuned to shapes, signs, and symbolism. She called her first collection Touch Wood, based on the Middle Eastern tradition of knocking on wood for luck. (She’s Lebanese.) And many of her pieces incorporate an engraved evil eye, a symbol of protection in Middle Eastern culture.

So it’s no surprise that Noor’s engagement ring, which she posted a picture of earlier today—along with her fairly new wedding ring—is steeped with meaning. Here’s today’s photo:

And here’s an older photo—where she’s wearing another six-sided ring:

In this one she explains:

“It is believed that Hexagons represent union and balance #nofilter #SacredGeometry #numerology”

Makes sense: Union and balance are two of the most important elements you want in a marriage.

There’s also this shot, where she shows off a second wedding band—part of her collection—that hugs her hex engagement ring.

We can’t help but think it would be pretty with a second band just like it stacked over her engagement ring, which would look a lot like Natalie Portman’s incredibly cool stack.

Diamonds cut into a hexagon shape are pretty rare—a lot more rare than your standard round- or princess-cut—though they are out there if you do some digging.

Oh, and while we have you here, you should probably check out Noor’s phenomenal Giambattista Valli wedding dress. (She married artist Alexandre Al Khawam two months ago today.)

Could you just die? Her maid of honor is wearing Missoni, and her “fairy” bridesmaids are wearing Maison Rabih Kayrouz.
