The Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises may only have a 14 percent success rate when it comes to couples who make it down the aisle, but that's certainly not for a lack of marriage proposals. In the shows' combined 29 seasons, there have been 20 proposals (with 20 accompanying engagement rings) and four promise rings—so the various seasons have ended with a ring about 84 percent of the time.
Here, we break down every single ring that's appeared in the various Bachelor and Bachelorette finales by season—all 24 of 'em.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 1: Alex Michel & Amanda Marsh
No proposal, no ring. The two dated for nearly a year but ultimately parted ways.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 2: Aaron Buerge & Helene Eksterowicz
Proposal, engagement ring. The couple broke up within months—reportedly in a Starbucks—and partnered to sell her 2.75-carat Harry Winston engagement ring on eBay. That isn’t the ring on the right, but the Classic Winston Round Brilliant Engagement Ring with Pear-Shaped Side Stones is the same style.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 1: Trista Rehn & Ryan Sutter
Proposal, engagement ring. Trista reportedly lost the engagement ring that Ryan proposed with—a round diamond from Harry Winston with heart-shaped accents, see it here. Ryan bought her a second ring, and for their 10th wedding anniversary, she got an upgrade ring from Neil Lane, above.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 3: Andrew Firestone & Jen Schefft
Proposal, engagement ring. According to People, neither person would say whether Jen returned the engagement ring Andrew proposed with after the two called it quits. Weird. Again, that isn’t the ring on the right, but the Classic Winston Oval-Shaped Engagement Ring with Tapered Baguette Side Stones is the same style.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 2: Meredith Phillips & Ian Mckee
Proposal, engagement ring. Ian got Meredith’s final rose and proposed with Tacori’s Reverse Crescent Engagement Ring. The two ended their relationship a year later.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 4: Bob Guiney & Estella Gardinier
No proposal, promise ring. In lieu of an proposal and an engagement ring, Bachelor Bob presented Estella with a $45,000 promise ring. She reportedly auctioned off the ring—similar to the Classic Winston Cushion-Cut Engagement Ring with Tapered Baguette Side Stones, at right—for $22,300 when he couldn’t keep the promise.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 5: Jesse Palmer & Jessica Bowlin
No proposal, no ring. Jessica didn’t get an engagement ring—instead she landed a wildly romantic plane ticket, so she could visit the NFL quarterback. Unsurprisingly, these two didn’t last.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 6: Byron Velvick & Mary Delgado
Proposal, engagement ring. Mary said “Yes!” to a 3.5-carat three-stone Tacori engagement ring. She would later be arrested for punching him in the mouth with that same ring, reportedly over an appearance on a Bachelor reunion show.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 3: Jen Schefft & no one
No proposal, no ring. Jen rejected both guys in the finale.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 7: Charlie O'Connell & Sarah Brice
No proposal, promise ring. Charlie didn’t get down on one knee, but he did offer this Tacori promise ring and asked if they could continue their relationship. The two were on-again/off-again for four years, after which they finally called it off.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 8: Travis Stork & Sarah Stone
No proposal, promise ring.The Bachelor’s Carrie Bradshaw moment: Dr. Travis Stork didn’t propose to Sarah Stone after giving her the final rose, but he did offer her a promise ring—to wear around her neck.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 9: Prince Lorenzo Borghese & Jennifer Wilson
No proposal, promise ring. Jennifer didn’t get her happily ever after: Prince Lorenzo skipped the proposal, instead offering a promise ring designed by his mom. They broke up within a year.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 10: Andrew Baldwin & Tessa Horst
Proposal, engagement ring. Tessa said “Yes!” to “An Officer and a Gentleman”—and a round-cut Chopard solitaire. Again, that isn’t the ring on the right, but the Chopard For Ever Ring is the same style.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 11: Brad Womack & no one
No proposal, no ring. Brad sent both girls home in the finale.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 12: Matt Grant & Shayne Lamas
Proposal, engagement ring. The Brit proposed with this Tacori engagement ring, but the two split within a year.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 4: DeAnna Pappas & Jesse Csincsak
Proposal, engagement ring. DeAnna passed on Jason Mesnick and accepted a proposal—and this Tacori engagement ring—from Jesse Csincsak.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 13: Jason Mesnick & Melissa Rycroft
Proposal, engagement ring. Mesnick is back, this time proposing to Melissa with an east-west engagement ring that marks the beginning of the “Neil Lane engagement ring” era on The Bachelor/ette. After they split, Jason would go on to marry his runner-up, Molly Malaney, who just landed this oval-cut Neil Lane sparkler for their five-year wedding anniversary.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 5: Jillian Harris & Ed Swiderski
Proposal, engagement ring. Jillian was OK with this Neil Lane engagement ring, worth a reported $60,000. She was not OK with a two-timing fiance, however, which is reportedly why she ended the relationship.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 14: Jake Pavelka & Vienna Girardi
Proposal, engagement ring. Vienna rode “The Wings of Love” to the last chapter, landing Jake’s final rose and a Neil Lane engagement ring. He broke up with her (reportedly over the phone) three months later.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 6: Ali Fedotowsky & Roberto Martinez
Proposal, engagement ring. When Roberto got down on one knee with this Asscher-cut sparkler, it was the end of an era: Every ring since this one—the next eight—has featured a halo setting.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 15: Brad Womack & Emily Maynard
Proposal, engagement ring. He’s baaaaack. Brad Womack’s second spin on The Bachelor ended with a proposal—and this cushion-cut diamond in a split-shank halo setting. The two split three months after the finale aired.
THE BACHELORETTE, SESASON 7: Ashley Hebert & J.P. Rosenbaum
Proposal, engagement ring. Ashley, the second runner-up from Brad’s season, had to pull Ben Flajnik, her runner-up, to his feet to stop a proposal. J.P. got her final rose and she got a cushion-cut engagement ring—and a matching wedding ring when they married in December 2012.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 16: Ben Flajnik & Courtney Robertson
Proposal, engagement ring. Ben finally got the girl—for a little while, anyway. He proposed to Courtney with this cushion-cut sparkler, but their engagement ended a few months later. He met his current girlfriend of a year and a half, Stephanie Winn, on Tinder.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 8: Emily Maynard & Jef Holm
Proposal, engagement ring. After saying goodbye to Brad Womack, Emily said yes to Jef-with-one-F Holm—and another Neil Lane engagement ring, this one featuring an emerald-cut center stone. After they split, Emily got engaged again when management consultant beau Tyler Johnson on January 4 proposed with four engagement bands. "I've had enough engagement rings,” she quipped. The two were married last June.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 17: Sean Lowe & Catherine Giudici
Proposal, engagement ring. A Bachelor wedding, at last: Sean and Catherine are the only Bachelor couple who have made it down the aisle. He proposed in Thailand with this cushion-cut diamond in a split-shank halo setting.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 9: Desiree Hartsock & Chris Siegfried
Proposal, engagement ring. Shaking things up, Chris Siegfried picked another cushion-cut ring in a halo setting—that’s No. 5 in the past 6 seasons—but this one featured some rose gold. The two were married in January 2015.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 18: Juan Pablo Galavis & Nikki Ferrell
No proposal, no ring. Not even an “I love you.” Ouch.
THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 10: Andi Dorfman & Josh Murray
Proposal, engagement ring. Andi’s ring featured yet another halo setting, but this time it was a double-halo around a 3-carat oval center stone. The ring—worth a reported $72,000—came off when the two called it quits.
THE BACHELOR, SEASON 19: Chris Soules & Whitney Bischoff
Proposal, engagement ring. Neil Lane himself said Chris was “effervescent” when he picked out this 4-carat sparkler for Whitney, which has a 3-plus-carat center stone center stone surrounded by a halo (no surprise there) of 20 brilliant-cut diamonds and 94 more diamonds in the band. Whew! The ring is now sparkling in a vault after the two split in May.
In the early seasons, the couples got to hold on to the engagement ring even if they parted ways. (Who kept or sold the ring was at the couple’s discretion.) But now if a couple split before the two-year mark, the ring must be forfeited to producers, who relinquish it to an ABC-owned vault.
