Maybe you’ve been with your boyfriend forever—or just a little while—but you know that you’re going to spend the rest of your lives together, and you’re quite certain he feels the same way too. You could go the traditional route and wait patiently for him to procure a ring and pop a question—or you could go ahead and do the asking yourself. But would you? Should you? Lauren Conrad says YES!

One of her laurencornad.com readers asked, “Can I pop the question?” And LC’s short answer was, “Go ahead!”

Her long answer was that the proposal has to be right for both people involved, and you need to consider what your future husband might want before getting down on one knee. She mentioned that a girlfriend of hers was considering doing the proposing, but after “putting out feelers,” the girl found out “it was really important to [her guy] that he was the one who proposed.” At the end of the day, the proposal has to work for the people on both ends of it, whether it’s the girl switching up who’s doing the asking or the guy toning down his dream baseball stadium kiss-cam proposal for a future wife who would rather die (DIE!) than share an intimate moment with 30,000 people.

Click her to read all of Lauren Conrad’s thoughts on the girl doing the asking.

Would you want to be the one proposing? Would your guy be OK with it?
