Look, I get the desire to rock a tiara on your wedding day. You’re wearing a red-carpet-worthy dress, your face and hair have been prepped by pros. It’s all enough to make you feel like a princess, so throwing on a tiara is the next logical step, no?
That said, it’s easy to stumble into “bananas” territory in a tiara if you’re not, in fact, a princess. I think the key for non-royal brides to pull off a mega headpiece is to choose something that lies flat instead of sticking up, like a crown. Here are two perfect examples from Maria Elena Headpieces, an Aussie brand that ships worldwide:
That one reminds me of Lady Mary’s wedding tiara from Downton Abbey. And I like how both of these work with and without a veil, so you’re good for the reception too.
Both brides are bringing it in the bling department, but neither would be confused for Queen Elizabeth. Or Kate Middleton. Or anyone with access to the crown jewels.
Thoughts on these wedding headpieces? Which would you pick for your wedding day?
I went majorly low-key with my wedding hair. I kind of wish I had picked something a little more interesting.
