I just sat through all 12 minutes of Beyoncé's Yours and Mine video and kind of feel like we're officially close pals—it's a lot of intimate black-and-white video with Bey's voice on top of it all, reading musings on life and celebrity that kind of feel like a diary entry. The most interesting part to me was when she talked about marriage and what it means to her.
"People feel like they lose something when they get married, but it doesn't have to be that way. There's nothing more exciting about having a witness to your life," she says in one section.
"It's OK to depend on someone. It's actually what we're supposed to do—we're supposed to depend on each other. And when you find the person you trust and you love and you feel is going to respect you and take all of the shit you have and turn it around and bring out the best in you, it feeds you. It is the most powerful thing you can ever feel in your life."
It's so frank and real-girl that I feel like I'm hearing advice from an older sister, not a mega celebrity. I love the words about depending on your partner too—it's the same sentiment I've heard in many a wedding reading but without being hidden in metaphors or allegories.
