I got married earlier this month and still can't believe this thing we talked about, worked on, and dreamed of has finally come and gone. It was in the North Carolina mountains and absolutely everything I wanted—I'll share pictures and more information with you guys later.

And while all of our friends and family seemed to have a great time, there was one little thing that brought me a few more compliments than anything else, and it was so gosh-darn easy, I have to share. In the welcome bags we left for guests at their hotel rooms, among the snacks and bottled water and Dramamine (roads there are curvy!), I'd nestled a little handwritten note. I'd heard about some other bride doing this somewhere, and while I can't remember who, or where, I have to give her a big shout-out.

I'd bought a bulk amount of flat white note cards online, so it was cheap, and I'd been organized enough to start writing them out a month or so before the wedding, so it was fairly easy to move through them. In each, I addressed the couple or guest, welcomed them to the South, and shared any inside jokes or special words about how delighted we were they'd made the trip. I ended with some sort of "let's get this weekend started!" and that was it.

I'm a sucker for handwritten notes but was still surprised at how many people came up to to tell me how it was the sweetest touch or the nicest thing they'd ever received at a wedding.

What sort of things did you put in your welcome bags? How did you greet your guests and show your appreciation if they traveled a great distance?

If you like those "No. Seriously. Thank You." cards, they're from Minnie & Emma and you can shop them here.
