The 8 Things You Should NEVER Do as a Wedding Guest

0
0

Brides aren’t always known for their stellar behavior—click here to read about the craziest brides EVER—but that doesn’t mean you get to act like a savage when you’re attending someone else’s wedding. Since it’s prime wedding season, it seems like a good time to review the top eight most awful things you can do as a wedding guest.

8. Call the Bride Day-Of for Wedding Details
The couple most definitely sent you a carefully worded invite with all of the relevant times, addresses, and lodging information. As a grown-up, it’s your job to retain that information, procure it a few days in advance, or call someone (ANYONE) besides the bride to track down that information.

7. Complain to the Newlyweds
You hate your seat, your fish tastes questionable, and there’s no toilet paper in stall three. It’s fine to have complaints, but either deal with them on your own (Hint: Chairs can be moved if you just CAN’T EVEN with your assigned tablemates) or find a member of the staff to help you.

6. Bail With Little or No Notice
Sometimes this can’t be avoided. People die, people have babies, people get sick. All excusable. Not excusable: “I overslept,” “I decided to run a race that morning instead,” “But… but… Coachella tickets.”

5. Get Super Drunk
By all means, let loose. Have a few drinks. Have many drinks. Unless you’re driving, you don’t need to be able to pass a field sobriety test at the end of the wedding. You do need to be able to speak without slurring and walk without being held up.

4. Pick a Fight With the Bride or Groom
The bride’s been a little testy the past few months—and hey, did she ever return your favorite halter top? The groom owes you $200. And you KNOW his Facebook status about backstabbing bitches was directed at you. Doesn’t matter. If you care about these people enough to show up to their wedding, leave any grievances at the door and let them enjoy the next five or six hours.

3. Wear White
I don’t care who you are or what your reason is. If it’s white, don’t wear it. Period. End of discussion.

2. Announce Your Pregnancy
Yay! A baby! I’d love to celebrate—on ANY of the 364 other days on the calendar. The bride and groom get a day. One full day where they get to have all eyes on them. There’s no exception if your whole family’s there, even if you have a visible baby bump. Tell them before or wait ’til after. Sharing the big news at someone else’s wedding is Grade-A Sh*tty.

1. Propose
Again, not your day. Just DON’T.

Exclusive Photos of Jaimie Alexander’s Engagement Ring—and All the Details on How Peter Facinelli Designed It

Jaimie Alexander is one busy girl: She’s starring in Greg Berlanti’s new NBC drama Blindspot, which is premiering this fall and reportedly “really, really good”—and she’s planning a wedding. The actress and Peter Facinelli shared their engagement news in March.

Our Jessica Radloff caught up with Jaimie at the Critics' Choice TV Awards after-party last night and was kind enough to snap some engagement ring photos for us:

Jaimie told Jess that Peter designed the engagement ring with his brother-in-law—two guys with good taste in diamonds, apparently. The sparkler has a secret message engraved inside. {Tell me more! }

Get Married at a Brewery—and 3 More Ways to Save Money When You’re Wedding Planning

Sure, winery weddings are all the rage, but many will charge you thousands of dollars just to book the space—and in some places that won’t get you a tent, chairs, or a dinner napkin. For the same vibe {boozy fun! } without the astronomical site fee, consumer expert (and bride!) Jeanette Pavini suggests checking out local breweries. Um, yes, please.

how-to-budget-woman-with-purse

Here are more money-saving tips she recently shared with Home & Family lifestyle expert Paige Hemmis, who will marry musician Jason Short live on the Hallmark Channel on June 22 from 8 to 10 P.M.

Skip the Saturday Wedding. Everyone knows that Saturday evening weddings are the most expensive, but did you know that Saturday nuptials can cost more than twice as much? Jeanette mentioned a venue in Tahoe that charges $900 an hour for a Saturday wedding, but $400 an hour for one on Sunday.

Consider an Offbeat Venue. The aforementioned breweries, but also historic buildings, and even your local library—many have designated event spaces that can be reserved for much less than a traditional venue. Also, reach out to your school’s alumni association. Many have clubs, halls, churches, or chapels that alumni can book at a discounted rate.

Don’t Serve a Formal Sit-Down Dinner. Paige and Jason are doing hors d’oeuvres in lieu of a sit-down dinner. Jeanette mentioned that a family-style meal can be less expensive than one served by a waitstaff. And an idea I like: wedding brunch! Since breakfast foods (think: waffles and eggs) tend to be less expensive, you can save a bundle. Plus, people tend to drink less booze in the A.M., so you’ll save on the alcohol bill too. (Just don’t skimp on the mimosas!)

Seek Out Amateur Musicians. Visit a local college or music school to a quartet, ceremony singer, a cappella group {acca-awesome! }, DJ, or band who will play your wedding for less.

Did Josh Jackson Hint That He and Diane Kruger Are Married?

0

Pardon us, Josh Jackson, but are you secretly married to Diane Kruger? The actor seems to have dropped a little hint at the CFDA Awards.

According to a trusted source who attended the awards ceremony, when Josh Jackson took the stage to present a menswear award, someone in the audience whistled. Without missing a beat, Josh then quipped, "I'm assuming that was my wife." Say what?!

Jackson's longtime love, Diane Kruger, was certainly in the audience. The actress once famously told Glamour that she'd never marry again, but as of last October, Josh updated their relationship status to, "We may get married."

In most of the photos from the CFDA Awards red carpet and festivities, Diane's left hand has been out of camera range, and Josh's has been in his pocket. Above, the lovebirds on their way to the CFDAs with Prabal Gurung.

In light of Josh's potential slip-up, it's worth pointing out that Diane was spotted wearing a band on her right hand ring finger at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic over the weekend—the hand on which a wedding band is worn in her native Germany. The plot thickens!

1-josh-jackson-diane-kruger-married-wedding-rings-0601-getty

Upon closer inspection, it's definitely something—possibly two somethings, one of which looks decidedly like an eternity band.

Nicky Hilton’s Getting Married at Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Home

Nicky Hilton’s wedding venue is fit for a princess! The younger Hilton sister is set to marry banking heir James Rothschild at London’s Kensington Palace—the home of Prince William and Kate Middleton—on July 10.

nicky-hilton-james-rothschild-engaged-engagement-ring-pictures-0812

Nicky “will walk down the aisle at the palace’s Orangery in front of hundreds of guests,” according to Page Six. “Located within Kensington Gardens, the Orangery, which is licensed for civil weddings and allows for receptions on its terrace, is next door to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s palace home. The venue was built in 1704 as a space for Queen Anne to winter her orange trees.” The bride will reportedly wear custom a Valentino wedding dress.

Here’s a map, if you’re curious:

nicky-hilton-kensington-palace-wedding-0602-google-maps

It’s right there, guys! (The Orangery is right about in the middle, with the State Apartments just to the right.)

I should probably mention that William, Kate, and their prince and princess aren’t currently in residence at Kensington Palace. Following Charlotte’s birth, the family headed to Anmer Hall, their 10-bedroom home located on Queen Elizabeth II's estate in Norfolk, England. So there probably won’t be any royal sightings by Hilton wedding guests—unless the family heads back to London for the baby’s baptism, which should happen before Queen Elizabeth heads to Scotland for her annual summer break in late July. (Prince George was baptized at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace in London in 2013.)

Sarah Jessica Parker on the Wedding Dress She Should Have Worn—and Her Brand-New Shoes for Brides

0
0

Even the most stylish bride can make a fashion misstep: Take Sarah Jessica Parker, who wore a black wedding gown when she swapped vows Matthew Broderick in 1997—see it here—and, in hindsight, wishes she hadn’t.

“If I were getting married today, I'd likely wear cream, just to have that bridal experience,” the actress, who covers the summer issue of Martha Stewart Weddings, told the mag. “I would want my dress to have an Oscar de la Renta feel, pockets below the waist, a very fitted bodice, a huge skirt, in taffeta or duchesse satin. That silhouette appeals to me because it's old-fashioned yet can look very modern.”

Almost 20 years after her own wedding, SJP just launched a line of shoes for today’s brides, SJP Collection: Bridal, available at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Zappos Couture. Here’s one striking pair, Tempest:

This pair—sheer lace with your “something blue” built in—is classic for a bride:

But the best pairs might be the line’s less-traditional offerings, like this scallop-edged pink sandal:

18 Black Dresses You Can Wear as a Wedding Guest. (Yes, Black as a Wedding Guest!)

0
0

I was raised to dress up when attending a wedding. No matter the venue or time of day, a black dress (just like white) was never an option. I’m happy to say times have changed: These days, a guest can always wear black to a wedding. {Glamour agrees! } It’s the universal neutral color, flattering on everyone, and so versatile; it can be chic and sophisticated or casual and fun. As with most clothing, the formality of the piece really depends on the fabric and the cut more than the color. With that in mind, here are some examples of how to wear black as a wedding guest all summer long, no matter the location.

Sunday Garden Wedding
Because of the time of day, usually afternoon, and location, a Sunday garden wedding tends to be a casual affair. A black dress in a cotton or jersey fabric would definitely work for this type of event. And don’t forget eyelet! It’s one of my favorite summer fabrics that is both soft and pretty.

Sophisticated City Wedding
There is nothing more glamorous than a black-tie city wedding, and of course black is always proper. People often ask me if black-tie means that they have to wear a long gown, and the answer is no, I don’t think you do. {Glamour agrees here too! } Certainly a long dress is appropriate, but the key to black-tie style is formality. As long as the dress is formal, the hemline—ranging from just above the knee to tea-length (which hits at midcalf)—is up to you.

Evening Winery Wedding
In my mind, a vineyard wedding is a chic affair with a focus on the natural setting. It’s about the stunning organic background and not over-the-top decor. To that end, I think a black dress can play well in this situation, but it should be sophisticated and appropriate for the evening. A cocktail dress is a great choice.

9-wear-black-wedding-guest-etiquette-the-stylish-bride-0527-courtesy

Beach Wedding
While selecting a bright dress may seem like the best option, there’s something very elegant about wearing black to a beach wedding so long as the dress is flowy. Movement matters when selecting a dress for the beach. When breezes blow, your skirt should sway.

10-wear-black-wedding-guest-etiquette-the-stylish-bride-0527-courtesy

12-wear-black-wedding-guest-etiquette-the-stylish-bride-0527-courtesy

Conservative Wedding
When attending an affair where the ceremony is in a house or worship, it’s respectful to err on the side of caution and lean on the conservative side with your attire. (Read: no skintight, above-the-knee numbers!) This can often be achieved by simply adding a sweater or jacket to your dress, but as a rule of thumb, if you’re look conjures comparisons to Audrey Hepburn, you’ve nailed it.

Rebecca Minkoff Lindley Dress from Shopbop, $173.60.

15-wear-black-wedding-guest-etiquette-the-stylish-bride-0527-courtesy

Adrianna Papell Jumpsuit Overlay Culotte from Bloomingdale’s, $189.

Country Club Wedding
A country-club wedding evokes classic, old-school style—probably since many of them have been holding wedding celebrations for decades. Consider a dress with the same vibe, traditional perhaps but also celebratory, festive, and fun. If you can imagine yourself sipping from a champagne coupe and dancing the night away, these black dresses could be for you.

It’s a nice day for a wedding—especially if you happened to tie the knot at City Hall in New York City today, where the Nikon Wedding Truck Studio was stationed, just waiting for newlyweds.

Photographer and Nikon Ambassador Joe McNally converted a truck into a fully functional photo studio, where he invited couples who had just swapped vows to step in for a free wedding portrait session. Here’s a behind-the-scenes peek:

Ed Sheeran, Elvis, or Etta James: Who Has the World’s Most Popular First Dance Song?

0
0

There are three types of first dance songs: the classics (Etta James' "At Last"), top 40 hits (John Legend's "All of Me" or Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud"), or off-beat picks that are super personal to the couple (I went to a wedding that had the Avett Brothers' "January Wedding" as a first dance). But what genre wins out for most popular? The folks at Spotify analyzed more than 40,000 wedding-themed playlists around the world to find the most popular wedding music and first dance songs.

Some stats they found: John Legend's "All of Me" ranks as the most listened-to song across all of the wedding-themed playlists on Spotify, but Jason Mraz won for most popular artist with multiple songs appearing on playlists. For the first dance, however, Ed Sheeran wins—most notably with songs "Tenerife Sea" and "Thinking Out Loud."

Your Comprehensive Guide to Every Engagement Ring (and Promise Ring!) From The Bachelor and The Bachelorette

0
0

The Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises may only have a 14 percent success rate when it comes to couples who make it down the aisle, but that's certainly not for a lack of marriage proposals. In the shows' combined 29 seasons, there have been 20 proposals (with 20 accompanying engagement rings) and four promise rings—so the various seasons have ended with a ring about 84 percent of the time.

Here, we break down every single ring that's appeared in the various Bachelor and Bachelorette finales by season—all 24 of 'em.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 1: Alex Michel & Amanda Marsh

No proposal, no ring. The two dated for nearly a year but ultimately parted ways.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 2: Aaron Buerge & Helene Eksterowicz
2-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-aaron-buerge-helene-eksterowicz-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. The couple broke up within months—reportedly in a Starbucks—and partnered to sell her 2.75-carat Harry Winston engagement ring on eBay. That isn’t the ring on the right, but the Classic Winston Round Brilliant Engagement Ring with Pear-Shaped Side Stones is the same style.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 1: Trista Rehn & Ryan Sutter
3-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-trista-rehn-ryan-sutter-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Trista reportedly lost the engagement ring that Ryan proposed with—a round diamond from Harry Winston with heart-shaped accents, see it here. Ryan bought her a second ring, and for their 10th wedding anniversary, she got an upgrade ring from Neil Lane, above.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 3: Andrew Firestone & Jen Schefft
4-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-andrew-firestone-jen-schefft-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. According to People, neither person would say whether Jen returned the engagement ring Andrew proposed with after the two called it quits. Weird. Again, that isn’t the ring on the right, but the Classic Winston Oval-Shaped Engagement Ring with Tapered Baguette Side Stones is the same style.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 2: Meredith Phillips & Ian Mckee
5-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-meredith-phillips-ian-mckee-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Ian got Meredith’s final rose and proposed with Tacori’s Reverse Crescent Engagement Ring. The two ended their relationship a year later.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 4: Bob Guiney & Estella Gardinier
6-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-bob-guiney-estella-gardinier-0606-courtesyNo proposal, promise ring. In lieu of an proposal and an engagement ring, Bachelor Bob presented Estella with a $45,000 promise ring. She reportedly auctioned off the ring—similar to the Classic Winston Cushion-Cut Engagement Ring with Tapered Baguette Side Stones, at right—for $22,300 when he couldn’t keep the promise.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 5: Jesse Palmer & Jessica Bowlin

No proposal, no ring. Jessica didn’t get an engagement ring—instead she landed a wildly romantic … plane ticket, so she could visit the NFL quarterback. Unsurprisingly, these two didn’t last.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 6: Byron Velvick & Mary Delgado
8-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-byron-velvick-mary-delgado-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Mary said “Yes!” to a 3.5-carat three-stone Tacori engagement ring. She would later be arrested for punching him in the mouth with that same ring, reportedly over an appearance on a Bachelor reunion show.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 3: Jen Schefft & no one

No proposal, no ring. Jen rejected both guys in the finale.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 7: Charlie O'Connell & Sarah Brice
10-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-charlie-oconnell-sarah-brice-0606-courtesyNo proposal, promise ring. Charlie didn’t get down on one knee, but he did offer this Tacori promise ring and asked if they could continue their relationship. The two were on-again/off-again for four years, after which they finally called it off.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 8: Travis Stork & Sarah Stone
11-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-travis-stork-sarah-stone-0606-courtesyNo proposal, promise ring. The Bachelor’s Carrie Bradshaw moment: Dr. Travis Stork didn’t propose to Sarah Stone after giving her the final rose, but he did offer her a promise ring—to wear around her neck.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 9: Prince Lorenzo Borghese & Jennifer Wilson
12-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-prince-lorenzo-borghese-jennifer-wilson-0606-courtesyNo proposal, promise ring. Jennifer didn’t get her happily ever after: Prince Lorenzo skipped the proposal, instead offering a promise ring designed by his mom. They broke up within a year.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 10: Andrew Baldwin & Tessa Horst
13-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-andrew-baldwin-tessa-horst-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Tessa said “Yes!” to “An Officer and a Gentleman”—and a round-cut Chopard solitaire. Again, that isn’t the ring on the right, but the Chopard For Ever Ring is the same style.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 11: Brad Womack & no one

No proposal, no ring. Brad sent both girls home in the finale.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 12: Matt Grant & Shayne Lamas
15-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-matt-grant-shayne-lamas-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. The Brit proposed with this Tacori engagement ring, but the two split within a year.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 4: DeAnna Pappas & Jesse Csincsak
16-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-deanna-pappas-jesse-csincsak-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. DeAnna passed on Jason Mesnick and accepted a proposal—and this Tacori engagement ring—from Jesse Csincsak.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 13: Jason Mesnick & Melissa Rycroft
17-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-jason-mesnick-melissa-rycroft-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Mesnick is back, this time proposing to Melissa with an east-west engagement ring that marks the beginning of the “Neil Lane engagement ring” era on The Bachelor/ette. After they split, Jason would go on to marry his runner-up, Molly Malaney, who just landed this oval-cut Neil Lane sparkler for their five-year wedding anniversary.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 5: Jillian Harris & Ed Swiderski
18-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-jillian-harris-ed-swiderski-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Jillian was OK with this Neil Lane engagement ring, worth a reported $60,000. She was not OK with a two-timing fiance, however, which is reportedly why she ended the relationship.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 14: Jake Pavelka & Vienna Girardi
19-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-jake-pavelka-vienna-girardi-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Vienna rode “The Wings of Love” to the last chapter, landing Jake’s final rose and a Neil Lane engagement ring. He broke up with her (reportedly over the phone) three months later.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 6: Ali Fedotowsky & Roberto Martinez
20-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-ali-fedotowsky-roberto-martinez-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. When Roberto got down on one knee with this Asscher-cut sparkler, it was the end of an era: Every ring since this one—the next eight—has featured a halo setting.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 15: Brad Womack & Emily Maynard
21-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-brad-womack-emily-maynard-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. He’s baaaaack. Brad Womack’s second spin on The Bachelor ended with a proposal—and this cushion-cut diamond in a split-shank halo setting. The two split three months after the finale aired.

THE BACHELORETTE, SESASON 7: Ashley Hebert & J.P. Rosenbaum
22-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-ashley-hebert-jp-rosenbaum-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Ashley, the second runner-up from Brad’s season, had to pull Ben Flajnik, her runner-up, to his feet to stop a proposal. J.P. got her final rose and she got a cushion-cut engagement ring—and a matching wedding ring when they married in December 2012.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 16: Ben Flajnik & Courtney Robertson
23-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-ben-flajnik-courteny-robertson-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Ben finally got the girl—for a little while, anyway. He proposed to Courtney with this cushion-cut sparkler, but their engagement ended a few months later. He met his current girlfriend of a year and a half, Stephanie Winn, on Tinder.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 8: Emily Maynard & Jef Holm
24-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-emily-maynard-jef-holm-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. After saying goodbye to Brad Womack, Emily said yes to Jef-with-one-F Holm—and another Neil Lane engagement ring, this one featuring an emerald-cut center stone. After they split, Emily got engaged again when management consultant beau Tyler Johnson on January 4 proposed with four engagement bands. "I've had enough engagement rings,” she quipped. The two were married last June.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 17: Sean Lowe & Catherine Giudici
25-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-sean-lowe-catherine-giudici-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. A Bachelor wedding, at last: Sean and Catherine are the only Bachelor couple who have made it down the aisle. He proposed in Thailand with this cushion-cut diamond in a split-shank halo setting.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 9: Desiree Hartsock & Chris Siegfried
26-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-desiree-hartsock-chris-siegfried-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Shaking things up, Chris Siegfried picked another cushion-cut ring in a halo setting—that’s No. 5 in the past 6 seasons—but this one featured some rose gold. The two were married in January 2015.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 18: Juan Pablo Galavis & Nikki Ferrell

No proposal, no ring. Not even an “I love you.” Ouch.

THE BACHELORETTE, SEASON 10: Andi Dorfman & Josh Murray
28-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-andi-dorfman-josh-murray-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Andi’s ring featured yet another halo setting, but this time it was a double-halo around a 3-carat oval center stone. The ring—worth a reported $72,000—came off when the two called it quits.

THE BACHELOR, SEASON 19: Chris Soules & Whitney Bischoff
29-bachelor-bachelorette-engagement-ring-pictures-chris-soules-whitney-bischoff-0606-courtesyProposal, engagement ring. Neil Lane himself said Chris was “effervescent” when he picked out this 4-carat sparkler for Whitney, which has a 3-plus-carat center stone center stone surrounded by a halo (no surprise there) of 20 brilliant-cut diamonds and 94 more diamonds in the band. Whew! The ring is now sparkling in a vault after the two split in May.

In the early seasons, the couples got to hold on to the engagement ring even if they parted ways. (Who kept or sold the ring was at the couple’s discretion.) But now if a couple split before the two-year mark, the ring must be forfeited to producers, who relinquish it to an ABC-owned vault.

Zoe Saldana's 2013 wedding to smoking-hot artist Marco Perego was shrouded in such mystery, the world didn't really know it had happened until reports about a supposed summer wedding started surfacing the following fall.

And now we're getting thrown another curveball: Mr. Perego is now Mr. Saldana.

"I tried to talk him out of it," the actress told InStyle for its June cover story. "If you use my name, you're going to be emasculated by your community of artists, by your Latin community of men, by the world."

Her hubby evidently told her he didn't care and that was that.

The gorgeous couple welcomed twin boys Cy and Bowie in January.

See What This Soon-To-Be Swedish Princess Wore the Weekend Before Her Wedding

Sofia Hellqvist is set to marry Sweden's Prince Carl Philip next weekend and while we can't wait for that dress and ceremony, we've got something else to discuss: the outfit the future princess donned this weekend alongside her royal family-in-law.

The royals celebrated the National Day of Sweden with a reception at the palace in Stockholm, and the dress code was definitely traditional. Sofia, second from the right, is the only woman without a folded white cap, signaling that she's un-wed.

After Saturday, she'll be a cap-wearing lady—and also an official princess. Unlike Kate Middleton, Sofia will get to claim the moniker, becoming Princess Sofia, Duchess of Värmland.

Speaking of Kate, wouldn't you love to see her and Wills dressed up in some sort of Elizabethan period dress for an official portrait?

The Sweet Reception Decor to Steal From Kristin Cavallari's Wedding Throwback Pic

Long gone are the days when Kristin Cavallari was a Laguna Beach vixen. The beauty's all grown up, happily married to Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler with another baby on the way. The couple just celebrated their second wedding anniversary, and Kristin commemorated it by sharing a sweet snap from their wedding reception.

Happy anniversary to the most loyal, down to earth man I have ever met. Thank u for giving me your heart of gold

In lieu of the Mr. and Mrs. signs you often see draped over the chairs of the bride and groom, the Cutlers went personalized, opting for monogrammed hearts. The sweet touch is a unique way to include a traditional decor element while still putting your own spin on it.

A quick love story refresher: Kristin and Jay got married in Nashville after briefly calling off their engagement (she wore a Monique Lhuillier gown); Jay popped the question via text message before mailing her the ring. The couple had their first baby, Camden Jack, back in 2012, and welcomed second son Jaxon last May.

Amy Schumer is a woman of many talents: She's a potential Bachelorette, the creator of brilliant feminist sketches like "Girl You Don't Need Makeup," and a photobombing ninja. We didn't think it could get better than her photo prank on Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, but leave it to Amy to top herself—this time, by joining in on a couple's engagement shoot. Behold:

The couple, Joseph Turnage and Brandon Moore, were posing in Central Park with photographer Alisha Siegel when Amy jogged past. As Siegel told People, Amy yelled "Oh my god! Are you taking engagement photos? Let me get in one!" At first, Siegel didn't recognize the comedian—until Amy said, "You guys know I'm like reeeeeeal famous." Hilar.

And though that Amy pic is amazing, the rest of the couple's engagement shoot is just as adorable. Check it out:

We're about to have another royal wedding on our hands: Sofia Hellqvist will marry Sweden's Prince Carl Philip this weekend! We're excited to see what her dress looks like (and will share pics as soon as we get our hands on them), but until then we're managing our excitement by taking a look back at some of the most gorgeous royal wedding gowns from the past century.

Norway's Queen Sonja and King Harald were married in 1968. Before marrying into the royal family, Sonja was a commoner; her dress actually came from an upscale Norwegian department store!

England's Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were married in 1947. Norman Hartnell, a longtime favorite designer of the royals, made the dress, using 10,000 seed pearls.

Denmark's Queen Margrethe and Prince Consort Henrik were married in 1967. Her dress was by Jørgen Bender.

To continue the royal gown love affair, head to the Daily Mail. It's got a ton of pics to browse through (including an oh-so-'80s dress from Monaco's Princess Stephanie and more recent brides, including Glamour favorites Queen Letizia and Maxima).

Amber Heard on What It's Like to Be Married to Johnny Depp

Before walking down the aisle, you're liable to hear a lot of different answers about whether anything really changes post-wedding. There's the camp that says, absolutely, without a doubt, something in the marital air just feels special. On the opposite side are the folks who insist that unless you face a major change (like moving in together), you aren't likely to notice many changes at all. Put Amber Heard, a.k.a. Mrs. Johnny Depp, in that last camp.

"Nothing is a dramatic change," she told Elle. "We've been together for a long time now, so it's been a fairly organic process."

Heard and Depp got married in two ceremonies this winter: once at home in Los Angeles and again on Johnny's private island in the Bahamas. Before that, Depp intrigued the world with his man-gagement ring, while Heard seriously confused Kim with three different rocks.

Ah, marriage. Yesterday Twitter exploded with #MakeMarriageBetterin4Words, and there were some serious gems.
