Here’s your first peek at The Bachelorette wedding: Us Weekly has the first pictures from Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried’s wedding, which happened Sunday night, and E! got its hands on the cover story.

Click your way over to E! for a first look at Desiree and Chris’s wedding pictures, then get back here to discuss.

* * * * * UPDATE * * * * *
Here's the cover. Thanks, Des!

From E News!: Desiree’s bridesmaids (including Bachelor alum Danielle McBride) wore Donna Morgan dresses. Many other stars from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette attended the couple's nuptials, including E!’s Ali Fedotowsky, plus Brooks Forester, Michael Garofola, Jason and Molly Mesnick, and Zak Waddell. DJ Tasos Hernandez, a fellow series alum, played hits like “Cyclone” and “Uptown Funk.”

Thoughts on Des and Chris’ Us Weekly cover?

I’ll be on the lookout for more wedding pictures. Stay tuned!

These Not-Too-High Shoes Are Perfect for Your Summer Wedding

Sure, I might be wearing a sweatshirt over my sweatshirt right now, but thanks to these watercolor-y Ivanka Trump pumps, I think I may have just felt a warm breeze. Don’t they just scream “summer wedding”?

best-summer-weddings-shoes-0121-courtesy

Ivanka Trump Boni Pointy-Toe Pumps, Nordstrom, $109.95.

There are loads of pretty floral pumps out there right now, but I think this particular pair is a manageable height for many brides, with a 2.75-inch heel. (If you can handle wedding shoes with more height than that, I also adore this super-on-sale pair by Sophia Webster for J.Crew, which have a 4-inch heel.)

Outdoor brides: Use Solemates to keep from sinking in the grass. Yes, they’re ugly, but they’ll save you from tripping down the aisle.

Summer brides: Have you ordered them yet?! What’s holding you back?

My imaginary second wedding is on New Year’s Eve and will require a sparkly heel otherwise I’d be ALL over these. (You know, because I need to have pretend wedding shoes on hand.)

Obviously Rachel Zoe Has a Seriously High-Impact Engagement Ring. (It’s Her Second Upgrade!)

There are plenty of celebs wearing demure engagement rings in unflashy settings these days. Rachel Zoe is not one of those celebs. Obviously. I mean, the woman could make a butt-flashing hospital gown statement-y just by tying it around her waist, so of course her engagement ring is seriously high-impact.

A photo posted by Rachel Zoe (@rachelzoe) on

I hadn’t noticed it until now, since she and Roger Berman have been married since 1996—it’s not like I was stalking her hand waiting for a first-look photo—but when her ring caught my eye, I was practically blinded. Let’s check it out.

Care for a closer look?

1B-rachel-zoe-engagement-ring-upgrade-0121-getty

Looks like a cushion-cut, bezel-set diamond, obviously in a halo setting. I’d estimate the center stone is around six carats, given that her hands are probably teeny-tiny. Since she and Rog have been married for ages, I guessed that this ring was an upgrade—and I was right. It looks like her first ring was a considerably smaller emerald-cut diamond with baguette side stones.

2-rachel-zoe-engagement-ring-upgrade-0121-getty

But wait! There’s an in-between ring too. It seems she started wearing this ring—a cushion-cut stone (I think) in a split-shank halo setting—around April of 2011. By fall of 2012, she was on Ring No. 3. (That stone may have been reset for the latest ring.)

Desiree From The Bachelorette’s Chic, Sleek Reception Dress—and 5 Ways You Can Copy It

Yesterday we got a preview of the romantic, one-shoulder mermaid wedding dressThe Bachelorette’s Desiree Hartsock wore when she married Chris Siegfried over the weekend. (Details on their Bachelor-cast-heavy guest list here.) Here’s a peek, if you missed it.

And today, PopSugar has some creepy paparazzi pictures of her second wedding day look: A sleek, chic sheath dress with cap sleeves and an embellished bodice. Desiree designed her reception dress (and the ceremony dress) with Maggie Sottero, so you can’t shop that one just yet. But there are plenty of similar options. Here are five I like:

Wedding Dress 1: Black Label by Anne Barge

This one probably looks the least like Desiree’s, but it has the same vibe, and I love the spangly, sparkly shoulder accents.

How to Copy the Wedding-Worthy Celebrity Makeup Look We're All in Love With

It's early in awards season, yet there's already a best-makeup look to beat: Emily Blunt's warm, ethereal glow at the Golden Globes. The actress was the early winner in our Globes best-of beauty poll, and we can't get this dreamy makeup vision out of our minds.

golden-globes-best-beauty-2015-emily-blunt

Here's the how-to from makeup artist Jenn Streicher, to help inspire those of you who've been looking for wedding makeup ideas—whether you'll be the bride or a bridesmaid. This palette's warmth and sparkle works especially well against white. "I can't remember the last time Emily wore white on the red carpet," Streicher notes. "Because she'd just returned from a sunny getaway, her skin was perfectly bronzed for a white gown. And because we decided to have her hair loosely back, I wanted her makeup to be soft and ethereal and just a pop of color on the lips to bring out the jewels."

On the eyes and cheeks: Streicher dabbed Dior Backstage Eye Prime over the entire lid, then applied a mix of the two lightest shades from Dior's 5 Color Eye Palette in Cuir Cannage #796. In the crease, she mixed two of the darker shades from the same palette, concentrating this on the outside corners and adding a bit on the lower lash line. "I also brushed a bit of her blush—Cocktail Peach #553—on her lids," Streicher says. The finishing touches: a bit of cream shadow in Chimere over the whole lid to add shimmer, and lots of Diorshow Mascara.

On the lips: For a neutral yet gorgeous pout, Streicher applied Rouge Dior Lipstick in Grege, then layered just a bit of the new Rouge Dior Lipshine on top. "Emily told me this might be her favorite look I've ever done on her!" she says.

Are you as enamored with Emily Blunt's wedding-worthy makeup look as we are? Or are you thinking of taking your wedding makeup or bridesmaid makeup in another direction entirely?

Don’t Book Your Wedding Venue Until You Read This

$
0
0

If you’re trying to plan your wedding in a year or less, choosing a venue can feel like shopping for a car: You need to sign on the dotted line NOW, or you could miss out. I mean, there are only 52 weeks in a year, and the prime Saturday dates book up fast, sometimes years in advance. But still, you shouldn’t commit to a wedding date (or a car, for that matter) without some serious consideration. Here are five questions to ask the site director—and yourself.

1. Do I have to work with your vendors?
Some venues allow only specific caterers, florists, or rental companies on site—and their preferred vendors might be spendy. My winery venue had allowed three caterers on site because they wanted a crew that was familiar with the winery’s setup, so we couldn’t use the caterer my mom (who did all the research) liked best.

2. How many weddings do you host a weekend? Will there be a wedding before or after mine?
If there’s an evening wedding following your A.M. nuptials, you’re going to feel rushed, and if you’re the evening bride, you’re going to be worried about the space being in perfect shape. Sometimes it can’t be avoided (a space that packs in the events is going to be cheaper), but it’s something you should know about beforehand.

3. Outdoor brides: What’s the rain plan?
We looked at a gorgeous winery where the ceremony would have overlooked the vines and the reception would have been held under a tent—all gorgeous. The rain plan, though, was to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing in the same tent, which felt too close for comfort?

4. Are there any “dead zones” where you’re going to lose guests?
The more guests who are on and around the dance floor, the more lively your party’s going to be. An out-of-the-way lounge area is nice, in theory, but you don’t want your guests wandering off. I think it’s ideal to have the dinner tables, bar, and dance floor in a single space, so everyone’s together.

5. Can I bring in my own alcohol?
If you have to buy booze through the venue or an outside caterer, there’s going to be a huge mark-up. Buying it yourself in bulk will save you a bunch of cash—but not all venues allow it.

6. Are candles allowed?
Not necessarily a deal-breaker, but it’s worth asking: That romantic, candlelit reception you’re envisioning might not be possible if the venue doesn’t allow open flames. Flameless candles (like these, from Pottery Barn) are a great alternative, but it’s an expense you’ll need to consider up front.

Did you feel pressure to book a wedding venue? Did you overlook anything?

We planned our wedding in a short eight months—pressure, pressure everywhere.

You Don’t Need a Fancy Wedding Cake, But You Still Need THIS

$

If the weddings I’ve attended recently are any indication, wedding cupcakes (in lieu of wedding cake) are still insanely popular. And why not? Cupcakes are yum-tastic. But still, I think it’s nice to have the ceremony of the bride and groom cutting the cake together, and cutting a cupcake feels a little weird, right? So how about this instead:

This bride and groom served their guests cupcakes, which you can see on the right, but they also had an itty-bitty cake to cut into, too. It’s super-cute for pictures—and to save for your first anniversary. Like the cake says: love.

Of course cupcakes have been a “thing” for more than a decade now, but there are a million other treats you could serve and still have a pint-size cake alongside them: Rice Krispie treats (yum), cookies, whoopee pies, mini fruit tarts—we had a gelato bar. Yum, yum, yum, and yum. Again, cutting into any of those (especially the gelato!) would be awkward, but the mini cake solves this.

Will you have a fancy cake at your wedding? Or a different dessert entirely?

This Super-Amazing Engagement Ring Selfie Is a Must-Take Photo on Your Wedding Day

I stumbled onto sweet bride Jessica’s Instagram through the jeweler who designed her engagement ring, and I’m so glad I did, but because it led me to the best engagement ring selfie of all time:

How frigging adorable is that? I like it so much better than the shots of rings on random inanimate objects—wedding heels, macarons, Scrabble letters. I just couldn’t adore this picture more. Unrelated: Jessica and her husband got married at Sandals, which is my personal “happiest place on earth.”

Seriously, isn’t that the best thing ever?

You’ve Never Seen Halo Engagement Rings Like These Before

Halo settings have been doing their thing—making center stones look bigger, brighter, and sparklier—for a long time now, so it’s hard to believe there are MORE ways to wind tiny diamonds around bigger stone. And still, I bet you’ve never seen halo engagement rings like these before:

Hemera Bridal R3205/R1, $3,975 (setting only).

This one is a little bit different, since the center stone is emerald the halo isn't going to make it look bigger so it’s more of a design element. But I looooove it.

How Lady Gaga and Her Friends Bachelorette: Stripper Classes, Martinis, and Penis Candles

Lady Gaga and her childhood BFFs just spent the weekend bachelorette’ing in a manner that might make their high school teachers blush. (The girls attended Convent of the Sacred Heart, a private all-girls Roman Catholic school in NYC.) The weekend—Gaga’s friend Ali’s last hurrah—involved a stripper class, martinis, and penis paraphernalia, including candles for “melting away the dicks of her past.” Well, OK then. Here are the pics and videos:

Guess Which Celeb Just Walked the SAG Awards Red Carpet in a Wedding Dress

Remember when Kristen Wiig wore a Delphine Manivet wedding dress to the Golden Globes? Well, another celeb followed suit at the SAG Awards.

Orange Is the New Black’s Laverne Coxa 2014 Glamour Woman of the Year!—just showed up on the SAG Awards red carpet wearing a wedding dress from Johanna Johnson’s spring-summer 2014 collection. Here it is on the runway:

And here it is on the red carpet.

2-laverne-cox-sag-awards-dress-johanna-johnson-0125-getty

Laverne’s golden manicure, if you're curious, was a mix of three Caption Polish colors: Just a Little Bit in Love, Shizaaam!, and Trust Me, I’m Faking.

Laverne fills out the bodice a little more than the model, obviously, so what looks like a slit in the decolletage on the runway turns into a peekaboo detail on the red carpet.

An Up-Close Look at Sofia Vergara’s Engagement Ring, and Details on Her “BIG” Fall Wedding

Leave it to the mani cam: I’ve been waiting for ages for an up-close look at Sofia Vergara’s engagement ring, but it wasn’t until her left hand took a walk down E! News’s other red carpet at last night’s SAG Awards that I got it. (Sofia and Joe Manganiello have been engaged since December, if the news escaped you.)

Dang it. The video is showing up small on my screen. To see it bigger, click here.

Sofia’s ring makes its appearance at the 2:27 mark, but it’s worth pausing around 1:31 to check out the engagement ring on Downton Abby’s Joanne Froggatt; that might get its own post!

Here are Sofia (who made our best-dressed list in Donna Karan) and her groom, Joe Manganiello, on the SAG’s actual red carpet:

1-sophia-vergara-engagement-ring-wedding-details-joe-manganiello-0126-getty

And here’s a close-up of her engagement ring, but the mani-cam view is much better.

2-sophia-vergara-engagement-ring-wedding-details-joe-manganiello-0126-getty

Obviously it’s a massive center stone in a halo setting with more pave diamonds on the band. This is super weird, but I an anonymous tipster emailed me to say the center stone is 7 carats—just like Joe’s mother’s. I can’t confirm or deny either of those stats, but I will say that seems low to me. Sofia is 5'7" so it’s not like she has child-size hands, and that center stone is almost as wide as her finger.

Sofia joked to Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson last night that she checked out the ring before agreeing to the proposal: “You know with me it’s all about the bling-bling, so he knew what I needed. I opened [the ring] up and I checked it to see, and then I was like, ‘Yes!.’ No I'm joking. He’s so handsome that it I would have said OK, anyway.”

So far details are scant, but as of now, Sofia and Joe are planning a fall wedding. “It’s going to be big,” she revealed with a grin. “We started off with 20 [on the guest list], and now there's like pages and pages.”

Thoughts on Sofia Vergara’s engagement ring from Joe Manganiello? How big do you think that center stone is?

The Save-the-Date That Will Get Guests Psyched for a Seriously Fun Wedding

I see plenty of wedding stationery in my line of work, but I haven’t seen a save-the-date that made me laugh in ages—until this one fell through our mail slot.

1-best-save-the-date-ideas-0126-kim

Excuse the envelope placement, but if I told you ALL the details of my friends’ wedding, my invitation might get lost in the mail. There’s also an illustration of the bride and groom on the flip side. The horse isn’t a random stationery crasher—the two of them have horses together.

Since the bride and groom are both fun and funny people, I suspected their wedding would be good times, and this save-the-date basically confirms that, right? Obviously it’s not stiff-lipped or formal, but neither are they, so I love that their wedding already reflects the two of them.

Thoughts on my friends’ super-cute save-the-date? I KNOW you giggled.

Please remember this is a real couple’s save-the-date. You don’t have to like it, but you do have to play nice in the comments.

Lena Dunham Drops a Hint That She’s Secretly Engaged

Lena Dunham denied that she and longtime boyfriend Jack Antonoff were engaged after she was spotted with something sparkly on her left hand earlier this year. (Turns out those rings are “friendship rings,” and she and Girls co-executive producer Jenni Konner have matching stacks. “We're engaged to continue to work together for the rest of my life,” Lena told People.)

But the engagement-rumor mill started churning again at a Sundance party when Lena referred to Rachel Antonoff—Jack’s fashion-designing sister—as her “sister-in-law”

A Page Six reporter tried to get a quote from Lena, but she kindly refused. “She was talking about how everyone reacted to her statement as she exited the party.”

All I am saying is I never referred to my sister-in-law as “my sister-in-law” until after my husband and I were married. (Even before the wedding, I used “my future sister-in-law.”)

Do you think Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff are maybe engaged?

That “sister-in-law” bit definitely makes me wonder. Heck, maybe they went and got secret married. (Lena did mention in the aforementioned People article that Jack’s mother has a Google alert on her son, so I hope I’m not spoiling any surprises.)

Some #snowpocolypse Fun: Let’s Overanalyze All of Desiree and Chris’s Photos From the Bachelorette Wedding

Trapped inside all day? Well, Us Weekly just shared all the photos from The Bachelorette’s Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried’s January 19 wedding, so overanalyzing all of those should keep us busy for a bit. Join me?

If you click the numbers below, they’ll take you to the picture I’m talking about. Let’s go!

1) This is a montage, so let’s continue.

2) OMG, their venue—the oceanside Wayfarers Chapel—is striking. What a view.

3) Desiree’s Neil Lane engagement ring is even prettier than I remember. And I like the two-tone ring for her groom.

4) Haha. What does a Bachelorette star carry in her bouquet? “No red roses!” Desiree’s bouquet included ranunculus, peonies, and vines instead.

5) Their wedding stationary had a whimsical floral design.

6) The first kiss, in that crazy, glass-paned chapel.

7) Walking up the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. This is the first time we’re seeing the blush tulle under the skirt of her ceremony dress. That makes me like it more.

8) The bridesmaids wore mix-and-match cranberry Donna Morgan dresses. Cute.

9) A rear view of the ceremony dress. I’m kind of not loving the tulle panel in the back.

10) The entire bridal party—I counted 15 people, total.

11) Three tiny flower girls. Always cute.

12) A close-up of the bouquet. I think I would’ve reined in the vines a little.

13) Another kiss shot.

14) And another bridal portrait. Moving on.

15) Bride and groom portrait.

16) And another. Yeah, not liking that vine in the bouquet. I find it distracting.

17) The bride and groom’s Bachelor family: Brooks Forester, Ali Fedotowsky, Jason and Molly Mesnick, Michael Garofola, and Zak Waddell.

18) Inside the reception: more vines!

19) First dance, and the first time we’re seeing her reception dress. (Check out similar dresses here.)

20) Their petite salted caramel and Oreo wedding cake (um, yum) was rustic and cute.

21) A tablescape close-up. It’s a little crowded for my taste, and the books feel a little “done.”

22) The cake cutting itself is unremarkable, but look at the mini pies!

23) Blah blah, ’nother portrait.

24) Ohhhhh, I really like the rear view on her reception dress. SO pretty!

25) And a final portrait. Here’s a sweet detail: The couple danced to Chantal Kreviazuk's “Feels Like Home” during the ceremony. “Chris is my home,” Desiree said. (That was also my friends’ Sarah and Paul’s first dance song!)

Thoughts on Desiree and Chris’s wedding pictures?

Overall, I like it. Despite the vines.

5 Flower Girl Dresses That Won’t Make Little Girls Look Like Weird Tiny Brides

The latest trend I’ve notice in flower girl dresses is kind of disturbing: They’re looking more and more like trendy mini wedding wedding dresses, and not in a good way. Flower girls are adorable when they look like sweet little girls—not Honey, I Shrunk the Bride. Here are five adorable dresses that will ensure your flower girls look age-appropriate, not awkward.

Forget Hollywood Brides: I’m Freaking Out Over the Pink Dress at This Bollywood Wedding

White wedding dresses? They’re dead to me. At least until I have a few days to fully process Taruna Agarwal’s pink-and-gold wedding dress. Taruna—daughter of a prominent family from London—married Kussh Sinha, son of Indian Bollywood veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, earlier this month, so it was the Indian equivalent of a celebrity-packed Hollywood wedding. And look how gorgeous she looked:

This sister of the groom, Sonakshi Sinha, also a Bollywood actress, wore a paler shade of pink:

Would you wear color on your wedding day? Or are you sticking with white?

I would definitely go for something with a little color at my second-chance wedding. Probably pale gold, maybe with a little pink.

A Big City Proposal Story: This Bride and Groom Met When the Doorman Played Matchmaker

A New York City groom just wrote to tell me about the doorman who introduced him to his bride—and then later helped him propose. Here’s Andrew and Rachel’s proposal story, in his words:

2-proposal-story-doorman-matchmaker-0128-getty

One year ago I left my gym the New York Sports Club on 73rd Street and Central Park West, and waved to the doorman at the building next door, who I had been waving to for the past two years. On this day, he didn’t just wave back.

“Wait, what is your name?” he asked, running after me.

“Andrew,” I told him.

“The reason that I ask is because there is a woman who lives in this building who saw you the other other day and asked about you. Here name is Rachel, and she is beautiful. Can I give her your name?” he asked.

“Sure,” I told him, and I wrote down my number.

Three days later, I got this text: “Hey, Andrew. It’s Rachel, friend of Juan, the doorman.”

We decided to meet for a drink. When I picked up Rachel at her building for a date a few days later and she immediately asked, “So, do you recognize me at all?”

“Nope,” I said.

“We’ve passed each other on the street a bunch of times in the past two years. A few months ago you smiled and looked back at me.”

I was embarrassed as we made our way to Wine & Roses, a bar around the corner. But just two glasses of Cabernet into our first date, I realized everything Juan told me about Rachel was right. She is beautiful. She’s also smart and funny, and we have so much in common. We’re the same age and have both lived in the same neighborhood for 11 years. We even shared friends: Two of Rachel’s best friends were girls I was friendly with in college.

Two hours later I walked Rachel home, and kissed her before saying goodnight.

“Wow. This could be good,” I thought as I headed home. About half an hour later I texted to ask her out for that Saturday night, and she immediately wrote back, “Yes.”

Two months ago I sat down with Rachel’s parents and asked for permission to marry their daughter, which they enthusiastically gave me.

A week later I asked Rachel to meet me outside of her building at 7:20 p.m. When the magic moment arrived, the elevator door opened and Juan grabbed her arm and said, “There’s a lunatic outside asking about you!”

She walked through the lobby, which was filled with four dozen roses, and then outside, where I got down on one knee and proposed in the exact spot that we met.

She said yes and kissed me—and then told me to stand up.

On July 12, we’ll be married at a beautiful vineyard in North Fork, Long Island. And yes, Juan will be there.

That’s Andrew, Juan, and Rachel right after the proposal.

Guys, how sweet is that? Do you have a doorman who could play matchmaker for you?

Nikki Reed’s New Engagement Ring—and Why I’m Shocked Ian Somerhalder Picked THIS Ring

Word on the street was that Nikki Reed was wearing her engagement ring from Ian Somerhalder on her right ring finger while the two were keeping their engagement news under wraps, so I’ve been keeping an eye on her left hand to see when she made a ring switcheroo. It happened this morning—Nikki went for a jog while on location with her groom in Athens, Georgia—and I have to say, I’m shocked.

1-nikki-reed-engagement-ring-ian-somerhalder-celebrity-weddings-0129

Here’s Nikki’s right hand earlier this month, wearing what looks like either two bands or a two-part band. The same ring (or rings) was on her left ring finger when she went for a jog earlier this month—I don’t have the rights to those photos, so you’ll have to trust me—so I think it’s safe to say we’ve pinpointed her engagement bling. Let’s go in for a closer look.

2-nikki-reed-engagement-ring-ian-somerhalder-celebrity-weddings-0129

Engagement bands—as opposed to rings with center stones—are a thing right now. I have to say I’m a fan. But since Nikki’s engagement ring from her previous marriage was also an engagement band, I kind of wish Ian had picked something different. Here’s the previous ring:

Then again, maybe Nikki’s not a fan of center stones—they do tend to get caught on sweaters and scratch babies’ faces. So maybe the similar ring style came at Nikki’s request. I just think if I were the one buying the ring, I would have switched it up a little more, maybe with some gemstones.

Thoughts on Nikki Reed’s engagement ring from Ian Somerhalder? Are you surprised?
