The first photos are in! The first photos are in! People and Hello! just released this week’s covers, with pictures from George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s wedding, which happened Saturday. Of course I don’t have the rights to the photos, so I need you to check out George and Amal’s wedding pictures on People, and then review Hello!'s #clooneywedding photo, and then immediately get back over here to discuss. Here's a sneak peek, from Hello!:

5 Wedding Dresses Inspired by Amal Alamuddin’s Classic Lace Gown>>

George looks classic in an Armani tux. (As I said yesterday, no matter how good the man looks in a suit, we’ve all seen George Clooney in a suit.) Moving on. Amal looks fantastically gorgeous in her ivory lace off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Rentawedding dress and a long, lovely veil. (Click here to see a picture of Amal Alamuddin’s ethically sourced engagement ring, if you need a reminder.)

Here are the bride and groom arriving in Venice. I’m not sure about the rest of their outfits, but George is showing off an Omega watch.

I also spy, on People's cover, a bananas wedding cake*—it’s WAY taller than they are—and a photo of wedding guests Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso, and I think Emily Blunt.

This just in: Amal's sparkly, spangled reception dress was her most stunning look yet>>

*Here are 6 more petite, equally as chic wedding cakes>>

I can’t wait to see more.

First thoughts on George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s wedding pictures?

5 Wedding Dresses Inspired by Amal Alamuddin’s Classic Lace Gown

Bad news: You can’t have George Clooney as your groom. (Believe it or not, he’s taken.) Good news: You can have an off-the shoulder lace wedding dress, like Amal Alamuddin’s French lace Oscar de la Renta gown, which featured hand-embroidered pearls and diamante accents and a full circular train. (People and Hello! shared the first pictures from the #ClooneyWedding while you were sleeping, if you missed the news.)

This just in: Amal's sparkly, spangled reception dress was her most stunning look yet>>

Here’s a peek at the top of Amal’s dress:

And here are my picks for wedding dresses inspired by Amal’s. First, two from the guy behind her dress. Spoiler alert: The first dress is probably the closest I got to Amal’s wedding dress, and it’s not a true off-the-shoulder gown. (There’s an illusion neckline, if you look veeeeery closely.

Wedding Dress 1: Oscar de la Renta1-clooney-wedding-amal-dress-pictures-0930

Wedding Dress 2: Oscar de la Renta2-clooney-wedding-amal-dress-pictures-0930

This one’s an illusion neckline too, and it’s more fitted through the hips:

Wedding Dress 3: Legends by Romona Keveza
3-clooney-wedding-amal-dress-pictures-0930

I like the texture on this one the best, although overall, it’s probably the least like Amal’s.

Wedding Dress 4: Monique Lhuillier
4-clooney-wedding-amal-dress-pictures-0930

And this one’s the wrong shape, but the top half isn’t a bad match.

Wedding Dress 5: David’s Bridal
5-clooney-wedding-amal-dress-pictures-0930

Oleg Cassini Petite Off-the-Shoulder Chantilly Lace Gown from David’s Bridal, $1,350.

And if you want to copycat Amal's groom, you can’t go wrong with a very Clooney-esque Black by Vera Wang tuxedo.

If I were going to wear one, I think I’d pick No. 4.

Amal Alamuddin's Reception Dress Is Her Most Stunning Look Yet From the #ClooneyWedding Weekend

Was newlywed Amal Alamuddin such a fashion plate in the B.C. years? (Before Clooney. Obvs.) Because everything I’ve seen her in recent memory is fashion gold, and that’s especially true of her wedding reception dress, her most stunning look yet from the #ClooneyWedding weekend, IMO. (Here’s the first wedding photo, if you missed it!)

Live Out Your Sexy Boho Bride Dreams in These Effortlessly Chic Wedding Dresses

If “boho bride” is the vibe you’re going for, your wedding dress search ends here. Aussie designer Grace Loves Lace took your visions of gauzy fabrics and free-flowing silhouettes and turned them into easy, breezy, effortlessly chic wedding dresses, a perfect match for flower crowns, fields of daisies, and bare feet.

And—good news for stateside brides—all the prices below are in Australian dollars, so they’re lower for U.S. brides. (1 U.S. dollar = 1.14 Australian dollars at the current exchange rate. So the first dress, which has a list price of $2,000, would cost $1,747.47 in the U.S. Get it?)

If Your Bridesmaids Fail to Do This, You’re Going to Be Furious

At the time of my wedding, I thought my bridesmaids were pretty stellar, but something just popped into my Instagram feed to prove me wrong. Sure, there was an over-the-top bridal shower and a super-fun bachelorette getaway, but there was no this:

Honestly, bridesmaids? It’s like you didn’t want me to know joy.

No matter where your bachelorette adventures take you—whether it’s to Chippendales or a day at the spa—I’m 99 percent sure that every bachelorette party going forward should kick off with a stripper Ken cake. (This one is via Brooke Birmingham, a blogger I Insta-follow.) It’s pure happiness on a platter.

Anyone else obsessed? Anyone else now craving cake? Or a Chippendales dancer?

Engagement Rings With Perfectly Paired Wedding Bands, Because Finding a Ring Shouldn’t Be Harder Than Finding a Groom

If your guy picked out your engagement ring on his own, shopping for a wedding band will give you a taste of how overwhelming it can be to choose “forever” jewelry. The pressure of “the hunt” is so real that jeweler Anna Sheffield made a little video about it.

LA CHASSE: A Jeweled Pursuit from Ryan Macphee on Vimeo.

Conveniently enough, Anna designs gorgeous bridal sets that have perfectly paired wedding bands—and sometimes two bands, for very lucky girls. Here are some of my favorites. I did side-by-side shots so, in three out of four, you can see the e-rings on their own.

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s Super-Sentimental First Dance Song

Following a whirlwind courtship, perhaps George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin haven’t picked their song yet. (Just a guess.) For their first dance as husband and wife, they danced to Irving Berlin’s classic standard “Always”—the same song George’s parents danced to on their wedding day.

Anyone else have goose bumps?

In other goose-bumps-inducing #ClooneyWedding news: Amal’s reception dress>>

Instead of a Grammy-winning artist, the couple asked family friend Nora Sagal, teenage daughter of Warner Bros. executive David Sagal, to perform at their wedding. She also performed an encore later that night.

By now you’ve seen George and Amal’s wedding pictures, right?>>

Thoughts on George and Amal’s first dance song? What was your parents’?

I’m going to email my mom right now and ask. (Although, since my parents are divorced, that would probably be slightly less romantic.)

Clear your calendars, ladies. Your favorite housewives who live in New Jersey (that would be me and Petra) are going to be on Bravo with a former Real Housewives of New Jersey star on Sunday. So obviously you’re going to need to tune in.

Here’s the deal: As I mentioned back in June, a while back I invited RHONJ’s Caroline Manzo and her recently engaged daughter, Lauren, to spend an afternoon trying on the newest Watters wedding dresses with me and Petra in a New Jersey boutique. And now I can tell you that the the whole try-on sesh was filmed for TV, for their brand-new show, Manzo’d With Children, which premieres this weekend on Bravo.

That's Lauren and her mom on the left, obviously. And me, Lauren, Maria from Watters, and Petra on the right.

Here’s a sneak peek:

Clearly I play an integral role. You’ll have to tune in to Bravo this Sunday (9 P.M. ET/PT) to see the part where I flip the table. You should also swing by Save the Date that night to see Lauren looking truly gorgeous in the latest from Watters. And you can also join me and Petra at Glamour.com’s Watch With Us, where we’ll be live-tweeting the episode. (Feel free to follow us on Twitter ahead of time: @KimberlyFusaro and @TwtrPtra.)

7 DIYs That Will Make Your Wedding Magical—With Tips From the Queen of DIY Weddings

$

0

I’m always hesitant to suggest DIYs for brides, because my DIY-heavy wedding almost put me over the edge. (Starting with 2,000-plus paper flowers. Eesh.) But despite my reticence, DIYs are incredibly popular among brides, and for a good reason: Sweet little DIY touches are an easy—and often inexpensive—way to make your big day stand out amid a sea of “been there, seen that” weddings.

So since you’re likely going to DIY something, I went ahead and picked a bunch of gorgeous projects for you—and got DIYing tips from Style Me Pretty’s Abby Larson—who knows a thing or two about making a wedding special.

PROJECT 1: DIY Mint Julep Favors
1-best-wedding-DIY-projects-1002TIP: Start with the favors. Abby says: “The best place to start for the novice crafter is the wedding favor. Craft something that your guests will love—and, more important, will use. Whether it’s infused olive oils, scented salts, or cocktails on the go, DIY something personal and delicious as a thank-you to your guests. ”

PROJECT 2: DIY Flower Wall
2-best-wedding-DIY-projects-1002TIP: Take a trend and elevate it. Abby says: “Paper flowers are all the rage right now and definitely worthy of some DIY hours. To keep your flowers from looking too trendy, use them as a backdrop for your guestbook, your dessert bar, or a white-washed wedding cake.”

PROJECT 3: DIY Fresh Flower Drink
3-best-wedding-DIY-projects-1002TIP: Think small to have a big impact. Abby says: “Your guests will always remember those little personal touches. The sweet anecdotes that leave the longest-lasting impression. For example, as guests walk into your outdoor ceremony greet them with a glass of cold lemonade and a pretty flower drink stirrer to boot.”

PROJECT 4: DIY Fringe Cake Backdrop
4-best-wedding-DIY-projects-1002TIP: Or, think big. Abby says: “In some cases, big is, well, big! A backdrop is an amazing focal point for your wedding decor. So much so that you can go lighter on the rest of the room because all eyes will be drawn to something as colorful and gawkworthy as this DIY fringe number.”

PROJECT 5: DIY Wax Paper Backdrop
5-best-wedding-DIY-projects-1002TIP: Craft it with love. Abby says: “DIYing shouldn’t be a frantic, chaotic, glue-gun-induced-burn kind of experience. It should be shared with friends and family over a glass of wine, as you all cut out tiny circles for your wax-paper ceremony backdrop or tie ribbons for your vanilla-scented sugar favors.”

PROJECT 6: DIY Headpiece
6-best-wedding-DIY-projects-1002TIP: Consider your fashion. Abby says: “Whether you update your gown with an amazing DIY belt or you quickly whip up your birdcage headpiece, fashion is one place where you can really DIY something to get exactly the look you want. Caveat: DIY dressmaking is the exception to the rule. Way too hard for this DIY-er!”

PROJECT 7: DIY Plaster Candlesticks
7-best-wedding-DIY-projects-1002TIP: Use everyday materials. Abby says: “To keep your budget down, consider how everyday materials can be transformed. Soup cans can be wrapped in gorgeous ribbon and used as vases for centerpieces. Bulletin boards can be glued together and lined with crepe paper for an amazing cake backdrop. Loofah sponges, when dipped in plaster, can resemble pricey coral candleholders. The options and ideas are truly endless!”

(Click the linked project names for the how-tos, if that’s not abundantly clear.)

Are you going to DIY anything for your wedding? Which of these ideas is your favorite?

61 Years Later, New Photos From JFK and Jackie’s Wedding Have Surfaced. Here They Are.

This is so cool: A collection of 13 original and most likely unpublished negatives from John F. Kennedy and Jackie Bouvier’s 1953 wedding are being auctioned off this month.

“The images were taken by a freelance photographer, Arthur Burges, who had been asked to be a back-up photographer for the wedding,” says Bobby Livingston of RR Auction. “They were discovered by family members in his darkroom after his passing in 1993.”

1-jfk-jackie-wedding-pictures-1003

John and Jackie were married on September 12, 1953, at St. Mary’s Church in Newport, Rhode Island. The wedding, considered the social event of the season, was chronicled by Life magazine, which noted, “Their wedding turned out to be the most impressive the old society stronghold had seen in 30 years.”

Here’s why Jackie hated her now-iconic wedding dress>>

The negatives are housed in their original folder, labeled at a later date, “Pres. Kennedy 1953.” At auction they’ll be accompanied by printouts of each negative, the very first prints that have been made from these negatives.

10 Signs You Might Be Too Chill of a Bride

$

brides-logo

You're so not one of those brides who spent hours pinning wedding dresses and table settings before you were ever even in a relationship. You're cool as a cucumber and laissez-faire about the whole planning process. But what you don't realize is that all your chillness is actually not all that chill at all. While being super demanding of your friends and family and shooting down their every idea is rude, so is expecting others to literally make up your mind for you.

6-reformation-wedding-collection-wedding-dresses-wedding-gowns-bridesmaid-dresses

The only time it's OK to be a lazy bride? In the Reformation bridal lookbook.

If you're worried you might be too chill of a bride, keep on reading to see if these signs apply to you.

1. You'd never in a million years tell your bridesmaids what dress to wear. Much less make them wear the exact same dress. They've got good taste...um, right?

2. You decided not to have any bridesmaids at all solely because you didn't want to inconvenience anyone. Your friends and family have enough going on in their lives right now to help you.

3. Your wedding planner is basically there to make the decisions for you. And [insert whoever is paying for the wedding here] too. Might as well just let the two of them figure it out; it'll be easier that way.

4. Deadlines shmeadlines. You'll get around to sending those save the dates out when you get a chance. People don't really need to know your wedding date six months in advance, do they?

5. There's literally nothing that scares you more than being dubbed a bridezilla. Oh, the horror!

6. Your wedding Pinterest board is a mile long. With so many options, how are you ever supposed to pick a color scheme?

7. Or you never bother created a wedding Pinterest board at all. In fact, you don't really have a vision for your big day. Is that bad?

8. You said yes to the dress your friends and family liked the best, but now you can't get that beautiful boho gown off your mind...

9. You were guilt-tripped into inviting more than a few friends to your wedding that you could honestly care less about. But hurting their feelings would be way worse; you simply couldn't do that.

10. You spend a ton of time researching ideas. When it comes time to actually pull the trigger though, you freeze up. What if nobody likes it?

—Written by Elizabeth Mitchell for Brides.

A few months ago I wanted a real bride to show off some of my favorite new weddings dresses from Watters, and I decided to make it a family affair: I asked former Real Housewives of New Jersey star Caroline Manzo and her recently engaged daughter, Lauren, to spend an afternoon trying Watters dresses with me and Petra in a New Jersey boutique. Lauren’s set to marry longtime boyfriend Vito Scalia in 2015, and this was her very first time trying on wedding dresses. Clearly she’s a natural. Get a load of all this pretty:

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s Money-Saving Honeymoon Is Perfect for You

I’m assuming George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin have some cash left over after their September wedding. But still, the newlyweds are opting for a budget-friendly honeymoon: According to Us Weekly, they’re holed up in their new home in the British county of Berkshire, which they purchased two months ago.

1-george-clooney-amal-alamuddin-proposal-details-0501

“They wanted a simple break,” a source told Us. “Just somewhere to enjoy time together with no interruptions.”

Rory and I honeymooned in Italy two months after our wedding. (We needed to wind down after the wedding madness.) But we spent the week right after on staycation in our East Village apartment, lounging lazily with our dog in the park across the street and enjoying leisurely dinners at all of our favorite haunts. It was perfect.

Would you take a staycation honeymoon?

I highly recommend it. (Frankly, I could use a staycation right now.)

2 Wedding Exits That Are So Much Cooler Than Whatever You Had Planned

$

Here are two fun ways to bid adieu to your wedding guests: On a badass motorcycle—with your groom in a sidecar!

Or, like these two loverly brides, on the back of a Vespa.

(I’m assuming the first couple put their helmets on after the picture was taken.)

Running through an arch of sparklers to a waiting limo is all well and good, but, you know, we’ve all seen it. These are two exits your wedding guests will remember.

Would you leave your wedding on a motorcycle or Vespa?

I think both ideas are so super-cute, but I'd probably pick the Vespa.

Here’s What a Japanese Princess Wears on Her Wedding Day

$

We love a good princess wedding dress on Save the Date: Here’s a German princess in a wedding dress covered in golden roses and a Belgian princess (whose prince looks like Orlando Bloom!) in a more traditional wedding gown. Today we’re traveling to Japan, where Princess Noriko, daughter of the late Prince Takamado, and Kunimaro Senge, the eldest son of the chief priest of the Izumo grand shrine, were married over the weekend. Both wore traditional ancient Japanese formal wedding clothes. And it’s breathtaking.

01-princess-wedding-dress-noriko-1007

Obviously there’s a lot of pageantry involved in an American wedding, but this is such a visual feast. I love it.

This is what the princess wore to formally report her engagement in September. That’s her on the left, and her mom in the peplum dress on the right.

02-princess-wedding-dress-noriko-1007

Will you wear anything on your wedding day that’s tied to your culture?

I die every time I see pictures of my friend Madhu in her hot-pink wedding sari. And my friend Heidi wore a traditional Korean wedding outfit for a small ceremony during her wedding. (And a strapless white Jim Hjelm wedding dress for the rest!)

How to Buy a Wedding Dress, Lesson 1: Give Those “Hell, No!” Dresses a Chance

Shopping for a wedding dress should be easy, but traipsing around in fancy gowns (and choosing the right one among the endless racks) can be surprisingly stressful for a bride. So in an attempt to make wedding dress shopping easier for you, I asked five other married Glamour girls spend a day trying on wedding dresses with me. The six of us took New York City’s famed Kleinfeld salon by storm, tried on tons and tons of gorgeous wedding dresses—with help from fashion director Terry Hall—and came up with six valuable lessons for those of you taking your first spin around the bridal boutique.

WHAT SHE LEARNED:
“I learned that a structured, modern, mermaid style I never would have touched did amazing things for my body. And I learned that my idea (which was at that time very original!) of a two-part dress that could be transformed entirely for the reception was everything I dreamed it could be. But most of all I learned that I really chose the best dress the first time around, even though it was an impulse buy at a sample sale that I temporarily regretted to the point of making myself feel ill. All these fancy dresses couldn’t make me second-guess that dress now—it was my dress soulmate.”

Which of these wedding dresses do you like best for Petra? For yourself? Are there wedding dresses that you’d refuse to try on?
